Looks like a girl alright!!! besides my suggetion to change substrate in the other thread.... my other is to possibly provide a basking area and a larger water bowl so she can swim?! She would be so happy with that I am sure :D

Don't worry, as soon as I get a chance, I'm gonna go Thrift store shopping for a 20 or 25 gallon tank. Here's a video as well....

Thanks for sharing the video. Shannon's idea about a larger pool is a good one.
They really enjoy going for a swim.

I see the ammo boxes in your photo. HOME SECURITY!

They are little escape artists. Just when you think you have them figured out they show you different.

Looks good, but a little inappropriate for this snake. What the other members suggest sounds good.

What do you mean by inappropriate?

i think what Sitting Duck means is the bowl is to small and the rocks are a no no.. take a look at the enclosures others have on here and piece together a place of your own.. most of the stuff people on here use right out of their own back yard..

As I said on my other thread, I'm gonna be getting a 20 or 25 gallon tank and carefresh and remodeling the tank.

your snake looks great.... carefresh & a larger dish(water) would be awesome...

and some climbing things, I use a wood stick(round) & add vine from Walmart($3), I also used vine & suction cups to hold the vine up..
there is soo much you can do... i only added a few, so it would be easier for me to clean..

since i have many more reptiles to care for!@!!

I did have an awesome stick in there but I forgot to put it back in after changing her water. :P I put in a much bigger bowl with plenty of room for her to swim in. Would a 46 gallon tank be to big for a garter snake?

I did some research and I'm guessing that Gwenne is an Eastern Garter Snake... Would this assumption be correct?

She does appear to be an Eastern, and a pretty one too!
My Deejay has that bright white dorsal stripe like Gwenne. Stands out.

I'm hoping to double my tank size as soon as possible. Also, in March I'm gonna be taking a roadtrip out to California with my family (yes!) and I'm gonna be keeping my eye out for another garter. Do the Blais Flame garters live in the wild? :P

i agree she does look like an eastern and i prefer carefresh for my snakes cuts down on any smell and its easy to clean as well if you cant clean every bit out you can just take a vaccume and suck the last bits of it out with the hose and like it was mentioned check out some of the enlosure set ups we have they will give you great ideas to make it look amazing :D

Thank you guys! I'm wondering if I could buy a Reddish or Blueish Garter on my way back home from California. :P I'd have to find someone who would be on our path home.

What kind of heat source are you using? Good to let them regulate there own temp. Mine spend time warming up then cooling off.
