So, who in the UK (or Europe) is up for another camping trip/meeting this Spring?
Those of us who went to Wainlode Cliff last year had a good time.... although not a single herp was found!
I just thought, as a run up to 'The Big One' in July, some of us could get together for a snake hunt and to raise a glass or two. I know a few members were disappointed last year because they weren't able to attend..... so here's another opportunity!

I was thinking quite early in the year... maybe April after the Spring term (well before exam time).... and not too close to The World Meeting.

I was thinking maybe North Wales? I know some good Adder spots there.... plus we have quite a few members from North Wales.... but if you have other suggestions, let's hear them!

Is North Wales somewhere you could easily get to, Claire?

Would the south not be the best idea, then we get the pleasure of seeing the adder and grass snake both and maybe the lizzards too.
It appears that i am off from 19th March till 7th April roughly but will defo need to consider money issues too but will definatly consider it. i had lots of fun last time ;)

Reptiles are certainly more varied down south Lulu..... I'm open to suggestions. I guess it's about easy access as well as everything else. Can you get down south?

That sounds like a great idea, James :) If we can find a date that suites us all, we would love to join as well!! We already had plans to visit UK again this year ;)

I'm definately up for this! From a selfish point of view, the South would of course suit me better, but I'm sure with a little extra organisation, I'm sure I could meet you all somewhere else, too.
I have no plans for spring as yet apart going to the EGSA weekend in Germany at the end of March.

It's been quiet a few days now around this topic.......how're things going?
I can't give any suggestions about the herping, but we have long way to travel anyway, so we're ok by any place......as long as it doesn't rain :D

And about the date: what about the weekend of 18-19 of april?

That's the last weekend of the Easter holidays here. The roads might be quite busy?

But I'd be free as far as I know and the same the following weekend.
As I don't drive I would rely on public transport to get there (possibly with the kids), which shouldn't be a problem unless we are in complete wilderness. :D

Maybe, lol... But didn't Sabine say, her and Gijs would be interested in joining us? Guess it's up to us to decide on a site. Greg, would you be prepared to travel down South?

I would be ... but I can't be sure at the moment ... 11-18th April I've got a gig every night  ... my hols run from the 28th March -13th April (although there's plenty of gigs there too). Terri's moving out on the 1st of April too, so there's a lot happening and I'll have to contend with the bills by myself. Probably best to leave me out of the decision process and I'll see if I can make it closer to the time. :o

Apparantly Thetford forest is very good for snaking atm, a freind of mine counted 10 or so adders there this week!! The BBC Wildlife mag is also saying the New Forest for adders, and chances of smooth snakes this time of year, though I've spent years of holidays turning over logs in the NF and never found a thing!

Please could we revive this idea? James and I were going to go camping by ourselves if no-one else was to join us but I'm still hoping that a few others might be interested? It won't be this weekend now, obviously, which is probably just aswell as so far the weather does not look great.

What do you think? Give it another shot? :)
