the driver went back and he says he saw the indent in the snow where he left the package and he spoke to the people to see whether they knew anyoone who might have taken the package in for them
he says he's sure that nobody would have stolen the package, that it isn't that kind of neighbourhood
but they don't know where the package went

we all have different ways to deal with our anxiety
if we get into the not quite rational realm - it's also been pointed out to me that I shouldn't have shipped during Mercury retrograde, and I will take that into account next time I ship (why the heck not?), along with getting a fedex account, because I trust them a little more, doing my own labelling, making certain that I can be in touch with the recipient for the entire process
I had assumed, Kyle wasn't home and his mom was the one signing, so I didn't start worrying until Kyle showed up on the forum and didn't mention anything about getting the snake, and by that time it was pretty late
I had deleted the pm with Kyle's address by accident, so when I talked with the UPS people, I didn't have that address to refer to
I am certain though, that I copied it correctly, and that it was someone else who left the last digit off; this wouldn't have happened had there been less people involved (Sean ships for me)
this is a huge nasty learning experience

but in this case, he would have had to go around knocking on neighbours' houses in a neighbourhood that's probably miles from his and he's dependent on a parent to drive him
also - the situation being what it is, I'm sure he'd post as soon as there was news

did manage to give myself a pretty good stab in the thumb with a screw driver, so I know my mind is still in foggy disbelief

one time, snakes I had been shipped were lost for a week's time before finally arriving at my house (god only knows what happened) they were babies, and they were still alive. badly dehydrated, but still alive when they arrived... they did not make the night, i even put them into a container with a tiny coating of water on the bottom for a while before putting them in a cage...however, i feel that had i gotten them a day sooner, they would have pulled through. Basically what i am trying to say is that I don't think that he would be dehydrated to death quite yet. I just really really hope that someone has found him and taken him in.

Just a point of interest for myself.

The box was insulated and a heat pack of 72 hours? And it’s now three days later, in the cold we are having … humm, not looking to good I would think.

When the snake was shipped … UPS, right … what was the labeling on the box?

Also (IYOs) does UPS have a good reputation for the shipping of snakes?

the two big issues were as follows
1 - I do not have my own account and had a friend ship for me
Kyle pmd me his address and I checked twice after I copied it, but I wasn't the one who filled out the shipping label and somewhere along the line the street address lost a digit
2 - I followed the tracking and was satisfied that everything was fine once the tracking said "delivered", but I was not in touch with Kyle until the evening, when I should have been in touch with someone through the whole process
what UPS did was deliver to a wrong address and did not get a signture, but I can't for sure say that the address error was their fault
not that any of it is likely to matter very much now, for this particular snake, but those are the two big things I ought to have done differently and I will never forget this
if I had done just the second thing, then we would have been on the track of that package within a half hour and my baby would be safe now
