Thanks all :D:D I just had to get a new camera which I could hold still (on a tripod). So I got myself a Cannon Rebel EOS the difference is amazing from the little Sony Cyber Shot. It has a pixel setting range (2.5m to 10m) small enough setting yet clear enough the I can post here ;);)
Great, Hey Michael, why not re-post those pictures I re-sized for you?

Yea, Wayne I’m going to :) I got thru the “New Post” learning and didn’t see my post right off so I just shut down for a while. I just checked the site and wow what a pic so yes tomorrow I’ll repost and then get some new ones up.
Now forewarned … I don’t have any of the garters like most but I will in the spring.

Very beautiful coloring.
TY
The setting on the camera was in “sports’ which allowed me to shoot several shots and pick the best. And that the real coloring no adjusting like I had to with the Sony.

They were supposed to by now, so I went over their heads.
Late Friday I had to fax my ID to the main company to prove my identity so they can FORCE my web sites over to the new company.
I have momentarily changed my link in my signature.

Cooool. I was once looking into breeding womas.
I have only had her clutch up once.
They are very temperature sensitive. And their diet needs to be a lean one. I just feed them too much. She will eat 5-6 young rats at a sitting.
This year I am tiring to reduce their body weight so as to get a clutch next year.
I paid $2000.00 for the pair in 2001 and the off-spring are still around $800.00 each.

So I go over to this guy’s house to bid a deck job and he has pieces of 2’x10’ tin sheets just lying about … ;)…wait for it …I ask if he minds that I just turn over a few as I collect snakes … he says "Naw go for it."
The first one I turn and wham … loads of these T. e. terrestris and I only get two. :(
Oh well it’s a start didn’t even try the other sheets. I really wasn’t prepared for transporting any thing. Both are very young maybe this springs or last years. Next I’ll search out for more.
Steve what do you think …send or wait? Your call

T. ordinoides yea I was leaning to that but found some pics at
http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/ (http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/) which made me look at the T. e. terrestris but at any rate maybe they will grow into a nice lookers. I’ll go back soon to scout the area, the guy has a small creek running though his property with tad poles. He said the creek all but dries up in mid August.

Thanks Don.
I had it right then only the one ordinoides though, just three snakes. Next I’m learning to spot sexes, even tougher I’m finding.
The fitchi is eating pinkies scented with salmon and eats three at a time. Fassst snake.
I have only came across that coloration of ordinoides once and what beautiful colors. Looking for another to breed
ssssnakeluvr
06-16-2009, 10:05 AM
ordinoides have a large variety of colors....waiting some myself...hopefully.
my male fitchi is a pig...eats anything I throw in the cage!!! hopefully my weekend trip will be fruitful and I will find a couple females (and a few males)
brain
06-16-2009, 10:14 AM
Pig …isn’t the word; I fed it yesterday, now the snake is about the size round as your thumb. Length I put it at 3 feet, it ate three hoppers scented and then I put salmon down for the other snake and damned if it did start gorging on that.
It got to the point where I had to remove the snake for fear of that regurgitation smell later.

So Don, this is just T. ordinoides – Northwestern with a very blue under side? Sex I would say male?

I would have to go with female on that one, Michael. Starts a taper and continues. I know it just fed but seems too large a frame to be a male also a larger head.
I'm used to seeing radixes but that what I see.

Then "she" looks like the other velevty coloration "male" but with a very blue underside. Would you agree?

yep, ordinoides, they vary a lot in color. the infamous "Bob" on kingsnake caught and sold blue garters, most were pickeringi, but he had some blue ordinoides in the group.... I would also say female

I only talk to them when they ask a question. I don't want people to get the wrong idea. Hmm. Did I take my meds. today:rolleyes: Oh, well. I don't need those things, I'm just fine.:D
Honestly, I do think they can feel the vibrations of voice and use it as a sign that this person is okay and not a threat. I think they also use a person's smell or scent as recognition. Seems to work. I have some very calm radixes.:)
