I was just watching Slithers while playing on the pc and i noticed her go into her water dish. Then she procedes to swim in circles in it for like 3-4 full turns. Now she's just sitting in it with her head poking out. Lol is it dry skin perhaps?

lol shes just now getting around to moving out of the bowl. I'm thinking of getting her a bigger tank. she is as long (almost) as the tank is. maybe a bigger bowl to swim in too.

Sometimes they do that to hunt. Trying to bump into something to eat. Mine seem to be always searching.
I'm sure they also enjoy the feeling and to regulate temp..
To help a shed is another good reason.
I find a lot of old skin glued to their hide or some other object.

mine like to spend time in the water....swimming, soaking....it's normal....garters are generally found near water, and love to swim. one of the 3 garters we caught at Joe's valley last summer was found just sitting on the bottom of the edge of the lake....about a foot under water, at 8:00 at night, water was a little on the cold side too.

Deejay goes for a swim at least a half dozen times a day. Fishes around, acts all foolish, then climbs out and makes water tracks all over the glass. Snakey fun, I guess.
The others spend a reasonable amount of time in the water as well.
