I have decided after a six year relationship with my last provider to "jump ship" as there has been too many problems.

It may take a day or two to complete the registrar transfer, then I will have to re-upload all my folders and HTML to the new server.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but this move has been long overdue.

The contract I just entered into will guarantee a minimum of one full year uptime 99.9% of the time:D

And 300 GB of storage, 3 TB of bandwidth, it will be a much needed improvement.

Going through hell right now. My original "whois" information is outdated.

The registrar transfer cannot take place without correct "whois" data, and since Homestead has locked me out, I cannot update my contact information.

I have the files uploaded, but the damn domain pointers still go to the wrong place.

That's quite OK, once the move is complete, I have already paid for a full year of service, and will renew in July guaranteeing 2 full years (Almost as long as this forum has been on line)

Every time I'd host photos for a member who just couldn't do it themselves, I always feared that the next billing cycle would cause a problem, not anymore.

The old service provider was over charging me by 500 bucks a year! and would not allow me to prepay a 12 month service plan, they just kept hitting me for 50 dollars every month again and again. Sometimes they would want it at inopportune moments, and I would get locked out:mad:

So it just made sense to me, either give them (homestead)100 dollars to turn it back on for 2 months, or give Blue Domino 100 dollars for 12 months. No brainer..

Oh yeah happy dance for sure, in that 2 years I will save a thousand dollars, and the new service is so powerful, I could hardly ever use all of it.

I can host movies, in DVD quality.... oh yeah!!!!!

And The end result will be cool. Only about 24 more hours before my names are released.

Following advice from Don, I decided to contact go daddy to move my web sites for me.

The price was fair, and I already got a lot further than before.

A piece of advice for anyone who is thinking of starting a web site.. Stay clear of Homestead.:mad::(:mad:

Here is a gallery I tossed together, I am re-learning web page writing (HTML) all over again. The last service had a web site builder and I got lazy.

Its coming back to me. Soon I will have fancy drop down buttons and such added to the site.

Well now that things are working again, I just cleaned up my PC, ran a fresh install
(Win XP pro Service pack 3) got a fancy 8 gig thumb-drive and a cool little metal enclosure that now holds an orphaned hard drive out of a broken laptop.

So that gives me a place to store tons of files, USB 2.0 for fast file transfer. AND I can run utility programs against laptop drives for work now.

Even started adding some buttons and what not to my sites.

I think I may know why I have little glitches in my home page, gotta sort out some commands. (Looks like there are some broken links in the code)

I found and fixed the broken links.

HTML is tricky stuff, When I display it local (On my PC) it looked fine.

When I display from web, it did not.

There were references to C:/file...... Had to remove them and insert the correct folder name.

Oh and I made a simple gallery.
