so i was holding meadow and she decided that she needed help shedding so she got herself started by rubbing against my sweat shirt's zipper and i helped with the rest:) she's VERY pretty now:) pics soon no one will take me anywhere to get bateries for the camera.... man i can't wait till i buy that rechargable batery.... or better yet till i can drive!!!:eek:

woot woot i got sooty and willow to eat!!!! they had their last full meals sometime in october and i stopped trying in november.... misted the cage, turned up the heat and 10 minutes later viola!!!! sooty ate one quite large hopper and a few worms and willow ate a large piece of fish and a good size hopper!!!:D i also fed Fawna a piece of fish, some hopper legs and a worm:)

i've pretty much always shown her the water bowl..... and i give her 30 min baths once a week lol she's a silly snake:) i miss her already:) it's gonna be a long month....

i was giving him his weekly bath and he decides to get spooked from my dog on the way out of the bathroom and flies right under my dad's closet door!!!!! and of course just my luck the door's locked....:(:mad: now no one's comming home till 6-630 and he's stuck in there... i don't even know how he managed to squeeze himself under that door.... but the next thing i knew all i could see was his tail!!!!:mad: aaa well.... i stiffed the quite small crack with paper towels so there's no way he's getting out......:mad::mad:

well... I am still saying willow is a female! can you take one more picture of the tail like that, only from the side? Your first one has me leaning towards female... but then when I look at an actual picture of the snake there is like, no doubt in my mind that it's female! I have never seen a male with such a chunky body... even my ones that eat constantly! I do have a few females with chunky tails like that one...... the side view in focus would be awesome... and if it does turn out to be male put him on a diet!!! :D

lol because when i first came here i thought she was a girl then i posted a sexing pic of her every one told me she was a he and so i believed them until shannon looked at some of HER pics and said she thought willow was a girl...... a full 2.5 years of gender confusion!!!!!!

fawna looks ok..... still less active and flighty than usual..... but i've been putting her in the water dish twice a day so i think she'll be ok...... i really hope it was just dehydration.....

and my dog's good..... still sore and doped up on pain meds but good..... actually i just had to shove 2 antibiotic pills down her throat a few mins ago lol i'm the one who'll pry open her mouth and stick my fingers down her throat and not care if she bites my finger lol:)

Wow, I can't tell you how much Sooty looks like my lawnmower survivor, Brighteyes, in the way that she's very dark. I found her this summer and her back was all cut up and a very thin layer of "skin" was protecting her flesh from being exposed. I kept her for a while and treated that and when she started to regrow makeshift scales I decided against my better judgement to set her back free.... well, 2 months later towards the end of this summer, my mom calls me and said my brothers had a present that they found in our yard... sure enough I go into my snakeroom to find Brighteyes in a plastic container!!! And I said MOM, I told you to tell them to leave snakes they find alone, unless they're oddly colored!!! And then I had some pinkies thawed out... and well I kinda offered her one and somehow she vacuumed up like 6 while still in my hands... and... sooooo I have had her ever since!! And she is here to stay!

now if any of you EVER go to florida you MUST go to gatorland it is the absolute coolest place EVER!!!!! i've been there twice and it is just AMAZING!!! and you're in for a real treat if you go durring april..... this place isn't just about gators..... it's got millions of birds all wild.... well except for the parrots ect... but durring april it's nesting season and you can literally reach out and touch the baby birds in the nests they are that close!!! (although i wouldn't recomend it lol) well here are the pics..... sorry.... there are like 60 of them so please wait to comment.....:)

put meadow on the scale today and she came out at 148 grams.... exactly 20 grams less than before she stopped eating..... aaa well she'll gain it back... silly snake stops eating for 5 months every year......:rollseyes: and is still a pain in the but for the rest of the year!!! maybe now that she's pregnant she'll eat readily again..... i hope lol last time she kept right on eating till the night she delivered!!!:D

yeah lol you should have seen them before! i've had meadow out since i got home.... i walked into my room to put my stuff away and she came right out and climbed to the top of the cage!!! she still remembers:) well so anyway i put her back in so i could prepare their meal and the others all came out and greated her again:)
like "hey you're back again? i thought you were just visiting!"
lol SOO cute!!!! and then they procede to rub their heads on her they sure missed her more than i expected!!! maybe that's why they were soo whippy!!!

Sooty almost just ate Fawna!!!!!!! after they eat i always put them all in for a bath and so i did and the next thing i know sooty is shaking her head underwater and fawna is in her mouth!!!! i smacked sooty and she spit her out..... i think she's ok..... but what should i do? i can't see any marks..... but she's so tiny! :(

If there's nothing obvious then Fawna is probably okay.
Keep an eye on her for a short time. She should be fine.

Not sure what you feed them but both of them probably had food smell on their mouths, it would transfer to the water. Then they would probably start sweeping the water for more food. I have seen this with my radix. If one of mine has a dirty mouth after eating I will give them a quick dunk in the water dish. I no sooner do that and a few hit the water looking for a bite.
There have been time I'll be holding one as they eat. A piece of food will fall into the water dish and more than one will be fishing for it. They don't miss much.

Good choice. I tend to gravitate towards those types. Epilepsy, scoliosis, runts. Keep us posted on the special ones condition. I would love to see some photos as he/she grows. It really is tiny compared to the others.

Shanley I don't want to sound pessimistic but that runt most likely won't make it. I had two born last year just like that. Super tiny. One died within a few days, the other started eating, and then died spontaneously, so don't feel too upset if he doesn't make it, nature didn't intend for him to make it :(

yeah..... idk.... i've never had one die for no reason... or even from being sick or not eating..... but i'm just gonna hope for the best.... it seems like he's doing great eating drinking and doing everything fine...... i just have fingers crossed for the best.... but i knew from the start that he was the most likely to fail.....:(

It's been WAY too long. Still Love my pets, Sadly though many have passed on. Sooty wrapped herself around a heat lamp that I had just unplugged in late 2009, Willow squeezed her head through a tiny hole and broke her back and most recently, in October, Meadow passed on. She was at least 10 and just could not stay healthy. She got an infection and the shots from the vet caused her liver to fail shortly after she was starting to get better. She was the best pet I'll ever have. Few snakes in this world are able to be let loose in the yard to wander, she would always come find me and wrap herself around my leg when it was time to go in. She would escape and find me in her house, travel up of down the stairs, anything. I never had to look for her. wouldn't even know she was missing, she'd escape in the night get up on my bed and wake me up, travel downstairs and find me sitting on the couch, she was an amazing animal. She will be missed by many in my community, as she was my greatest tool in teaching people snakes should be appreciated not feared. Hopefully her daughters will retain her amazing personality, but I fear no snake will ever come close. I will forever miss my hairpiece, my neck warmer, my tear dryer, and most of all, my friend. RIP Meadow
