I've been very thankful this week that all of my Radixs are healthy and doing well. My thoughts are with everyone who has lost a snake this season. As I type this(one-handed) I'm holding a very sick little Radixs. I went to feed a group when this one caught my eye. At first unresposive, then uncoordinated movement. This one has been eating and drinking. This is a sudden illness. I'm keeping her warm but not sure if she's going to make it. She's beautiful and I would hate to see her go.

Things aren't getting any better but at least they're not getting worse. I put the little one in a shed box with a warm towel. I figure the heat and moisture should be good for her. Looks like a long night ahead. Better here than out on the roads.

Made it through the night, things about the same.
Can't get her to drink. Pupils are constricted, slightly. There was some voluntary movement this morning.
Most of the time she is limp, though. Inside the mouth, her flesh color is good and red so it appears circulation isn't an issue.
Her respiration is very shallow. Keeping her warm and moist. Not sure what else to do.

that's a real shame... I hate to say it but it does not sound good at all, but I hope she turns around with the extra TLC. If things get worse, just remember that you are blessed with 5743976 happy healthy radix and not all of them are meant to make it. Pumpkin, my little orange eastern that was 1 of only 2 easterns that I held back this year, passed away yesterday totally unexpectedly. I was really bummed out about it...

Whenever there are litters at my house I always brace myself to lose one or two. I feel so helpless when I know one's not going to make it and I can't help them get better.

Let's hope she starts feeling better soon!

Made the decision and put her down. Any movement from her was more convulsion. I didn't want her suffering and think I was patient enough. Not the way I wanted the New Year to start but I've lost very few from these 4 groups of babies. As sad as it is, I look at the others and feel good about their futures.

Just checked on her and she's gone. I wish I had the resources and intelligence to figure out what takes a healthy snake and in a very short amount of time you have a dead one. Blood work-ups, fecal screens would be great but too costly for most of us. I can't help but feel I should be doing more since their future is in my hands and not just left to nature. I hope that my future holds more time to be given to these great Radixs.

A lot is still 'up to nature', Steve..... who knows what goes on inside these little creatures?
For what it's worth, I think you're doing a great job with them.

Steve, so sorry the little gal didn't make it. It's always sad when things like this happen.
Shannon, sorry to hear about your Pumpkin, too.
My condolences to both of you.:(:(:(

Sorry to hear about the loss. :( But as was said mother nature didn’t mean for all to survive. No matter what the species.
My first “clutch” from the Chocolates Rosy had 7 live births and one still born. I was ecstatic at 10:30pm when the appeared :D, went to bead with a smile and got up to cheek on everybody I had lost 4 by 7:30 pm that night another had passed. I only had 3 survive.
