He definitely looks like he's from the anery/hypoery population in NW Oregon where the blue anery's come from. For sure. He's got that distinct look.

These pics will confirm it even more me thinks. Taken in natural light today -

Amazing transformation, isn't it? The days of owning a 'standard' concinnus with a lime-green stripe are long gone.

Very beautiful snake Greg.

Oh wow. Not only did he fade, but turned blue later too. Hmmm... neeto. I'm thinking this is why I never see blue anery's in the wild that are juvenile/neonate. Interesting.

I did have just one baby in a CB litter though, that had the faint orange and blue combo. I wonder if that one will lose the orange when it grows up. I don't know. Sold it. Can't even remember who got it at the moment.

Time for a Sangria update. She's finally starting to pick up the pace in the growing stakes and she's also starting to 'loose colour' ... much like Xerxes did. The same genetics seem to be coming into play here. Anyway - some new pics:

The marcianus female (the normal) is a nice, big girl - the mother of our Eskerina. Good to see the photos.

The sirtalis girls, formally named:

Marina

Rusty

love the brown on rusty!

EasternGirl
03-28-2012, 02:01 PM
Yep...She's gorgeous...she reminds me of Cee Cee...their faces look so much alike! Rusty is darker though. I can't really tell by that pic of Marina, but I think Cee Cee is more the color of her.

Both girls were/are actually low on weight as they seem very low on bodyfat when handled. John had been convinced they were trying to brumate but it turns out they were gravid. Part of the concerns I mentioned in the other thread. They are both rather 'flat' at points of contact and the fact that Rusty looks thicker in her pic is because you are looking at the 'gravid' hindquarters. Both are eating for me so some of the strain will hopefully be lifted but I'm expecting to see slugs and stillborns rather than live snakies.
Marina has fed 3 times since she arrived and is definitely not fussy - she's had trout, salmon, pinkies and fluffs.
Rusty has had 2 meals of fish only - 2 small pieces of salmon the first time and a healthier amount the second time.
One thing to note is that they seem to be doing better apart for the time being. The 2' tank was definitely too small for the both of them.

EasternGirl

Well, I'm glad that you are getting them to eat. Sounds like they are doing really well with you. :)
