well I dont have them but this guys does
http://imnotmark.zapto.org:3030/Pics/Buddy/S6300128-1024.jpg
the only thing i can think is he got them from the aspen bedding i recently changed to, so hes on paper towels again and will be for a month or so and then i still dunno if ill go back to bedding or not.
anyway i soaked him and cleaned his tank with bleach and water now i gotta go get some stuff to kill the mites when the local pet shop opens but heres a pic of the one mite i found on him as i was holding him this morning
http://imnotmark.zapto.org:3030/Pics/Buddy/s6300034.jpg
and i was just saying on another forum of how i never had mites, go figure. anyway after soaking him i found about dozzen mites on the bottom of the container so he does have more then the one i found . anyway just figured id share the image of the mite so people get an idea of what to look for.
oh and wish me luck! i still gotta wait a few days to check the female BP to see if she has them yet because she just ate

since you've never had them, let me tell you - there's always more than one, plus eggs
and if you've so much as handled the other one after this one, without changing your shirt, I bet they spread - little buggers
there's a couple of mite threads on the forum you can check out
http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/general-talk/341-mites.html
http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/husbandry/671-more-about-mites.html (http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/../husbandry/671-more-about-mites.html)
http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/urgent-care/1978-mites.html
just a few, and there are more . . .
they do make for pretty informative reading
good luck with the damned bugs

Aww man, sorry to hear that your bp has mites....
George had 2 when I got him.
Provent-a-Mite Spray & quickTEMP Thermometer (http://www.pro-products.com/miteandtemp.html)
on my bp group, they say this stuff is the best. But if you need it asap, i would try some of the kinds at the pet store first.
Just be careful & read the instructions.

Just my very first thought...Is that a mite? Or is it a tick?
Might sound stupid, but the mites "im used to" are way smaller. Although the color seems to be allright

over on another forum people are asking the same thing, but if it were a tick i wouldnt be able to squash it with my fingers. atleast all the ticks i ever delt with you couldnt, you had to use yer fingernails or something harder then skin.

when you're tired, any extra hassle is a huge bummer

Isolate him, keep him dry, keep the substrate at a bare minimum, etc.
I had 2 baby red sideds with mites this summer. I kept them away from the others, changed the cage every 3 days, rinsed the snakes during cleanings, and washed out the container with hot water. They were good to go in 2 weeks.

And just as a side note, Aspen or any other bedding does not come with any mites in it. (NOT snake mites anyways)
It can only come from another snake with mites, direct or subsequent indirect contact.
Check that ball you got at the show really well.
But don't throw away the whole bedding concept.....
Mites need blood to live, like fleas do, and without a host, they die.
Unless you are buying used aspen shavings there is no mites in it.

the aspen is gone, i only had a lil left for fixing spot cleaning.
anyway the mites made their way to the garter so he just got the treatment along with a soak. the female BP doesnt look to be infected from viewing her inside the tank but i wont know till she is done digesting her meal and i can handle her to really check.
and mites can come from aspen, the local shop keeps the aspen bags (with breather holes in the bag) right next to their reptiles so the mites could make their way into the aspen. i cant say its 100% from the aspen but thats what i got my money on because none of my snakes had mites till i went with aspen. but again i coulda carried them home from even a local guy i chat with when i see him around that has snakes, who knows. all i care about now is that i can get rid of them and so far i think im doing ok, been readin ALOT online and have yet to get a wink of sleep.

That is a possibility. I'll pm you with a supplier I get great deals from, The dry goods are kept in a warehouse away from any animals.
So the aspen goes from the factory, the a warehouse then to you. Never even close to any animals.
and at 3 bucks a bag, it's the best deal around.

The store is Restaurant - Home Page (http://www.justpetsonline.com). Ignore the restaurant title in the link, No clue why it shows up that way.
Call and ask for Lisa, and tell her what you want, She will give you a great price. Some products are not listed on the web site, I found them on ebay.
Aspen shavings (zoo med) 8 quart bag 3.76 each, and here is an example order I bought..
The "turtle hut" hide logs are poly hide logs, Great for snakes and they wash.
The "eco earth" coconut fiber is only $4 and change for a 3 pack.

OMG! I have been getting ripped off from Petco!!!
Wayne, your sooo awesome! thanks a bunch!! I use aspen for my ball python, & the Eco Earth for my beardie & leo's.
What a deal!!!! :D
THEY have carefresh, alot cheaper too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've only ever had mites from newly acquired animals and Reptile Relief fixed that without any problems. Check it out.
Another thing to note that freezing for two weeks will kill mites and their eggs. (I don't know if two weeks is exact but it is what I remember their life cycle being)

Call and ask for Lisa:D
They stopped doing ebay, the fees were too high, and she didn't want to start marking things up.
The UPS ground for fairly BIG boxes from there has always been $10
I once ordered 6 bags of aspen, it was around $35 to my door.

I say that is a steal of a deal!!!
6 bags at $7.99 at Petco would be $47.94 that doesn't include taxes, & gas to get to the store.

I buy it in the 8 cubic ft from Skagit Farmers Supply, local feed store. Kaytee products for about $19.00. Maybe at your local feed store
