Good Day,

I am new to snake ownership, I have common Garter 24" in length and is seemingly healthy. It really likes earthworms and goldfish, he actually smiles when he gets a goldfish. I joined to make sure that I raise the snake properly and give it a happy life. My 6 year old daughter named it Alice and we take care of the snake together.

Thank you for having me

Eric(barrels)

Welcome, welcome!

Here's a link (http://www.thamnophis.com/caresheets/index.php?title=Garter_Snake_Care_Sheet) to the care sheet on this forum, it has lots of great information. If you have any other questions, just ask...lots of knowledgable people here. Enjoy.

Welcome from NY Eric.

I second the no goldfish motion. Kevin said it well.:D

Converting to pinky mice is a breeze with a little bit of effort.

welcome from hilltown, PA!!! but I will third or fourth the motion... please please pleaaasseeee do not feed goldfish. If you check out that care sheet, you will understand why. They will kill your snake in the long run and we DEFINITELY do not want that to happen!

we do want pictures, though!:D

Hi Eric, and welcome to the forum.:) Sorry for the late reply.
I must agree with the others... avoid the goldfish.

Thank you for all the kind welcomes and the words of advice. I will be asking more questions for the best types of food for a healthy snake.
