A few years ago. A friend called me and stated he found a snake in his backyard and that he was bringing it over to me. This wasn't too unusual since many have brought me snakes. Once he arrive and I looked in the bucket I was surprized to see a large Bull snake. It was mid Nov. here and the weather was cold to say the least. This snake was as calm as could be and didn't mind being held. We named her "Snickers". She stayed with us for 2 years and measured 5' 4" . She was a mouse eating machine from day 2, which surprized me. I'm guessing she was someones pet that had escaped.
Knowing it was illegal to possess this snake. I called the local DNR(Dept. of Natural Resources) officer(who I knew) to let him know I had it and that if he wanted it he could come and get it. He said, he didn't know what I was talking about and that if he needed the snake he would come and get it.
The snake is now working for the DNR as I donated it to one of the other county DNR officers as an educational snake. Thought I would share a couple of photos.
This is a photo of Snickers in the pot, my son Kale and Hailee in the background.
Snickers loved getting in that old flower pot.

Many of my students tell me how they go and visit her when there up in that area. The DNR officer said she is wonderful with everyone and still an eating machine. I happy for her.

I only have one son but he's everything I could ever want in a son. I'm so proud of the boy he is and looking forward to seeing the great man he will become. He has a heart for others and love for the Lord. I'm very proud of him.

I myself have only the one son.

After Amanda and Kayleigh, I never thought I'd have a boy. (Amanda was already 17 when Brendan was born)

Then Dorothy has Samantha, so I have the 3 girls around.

Stephanie,

I've found with Bull snakes, you either get a nice one or a Psycho. They can have a bad attitude:mad: and a mean bite.

ahhh, it's good that she is being used in education and even better that she's so sweet! Bullsnakes... pinesnakes... gophersnakes... all known for one thing... they hiss LOUD and they can be really really headstrong and MEAN! Pituophis is a great group of snakes though and it's so nice when they are calm as she seems to be.

Thanks you, Tami for your comment about Kale. With red hair, blue eyes and dimples. He's got the whole package. He's a great son.
