A guy here is doing research on colubrid bites - he needs data on non-ratsnake species (as they have totally devolved the use of venom) :D fill it in if you've had an experience.

Thought I'd bump this again :) the guy is still collecting as much data as possible.

Yea, collect this data on Colubridae bites, show the world the toxicity of the species and before you know it the snake is out-lawed or god awful conditions to keep it.

Sound familiar … no thanks

 To be fair I'd say this is valid research worth doing (even accounting for allergies etc)... fully reading his intro statement shows that he's perfectly aware of the misgivings you have voiced and that's really not what this is about. It can only add to hobby as well as helping to get the word out. Nobody wants beginning herpetologist to expose themselves to potentially dangerous species. ... remembering Boomslangs being considered harmless way back when ... or the fatal bites that stopped the import of Keelbacks from a certain zone due to their added toxicity from the amphibians on the menu in that region (the bites from these were compared to being as dangerous as the local elapids).

I caught one last summer from my fem Woma.

She caught my left outside wrist bone and the top of her mouth across into tendons on the in side of my wrist. She had me so tight …… “How tight Michael :)” … she left a burse the size of a silver dollar.

my black king used to nail me regularly when she was young and anxious
she always drew blood too, but I can't say that there was any pain or bruising
I've gotten bitten by garters a couple of times too - not noticeably
