this is a bit OT, but a really good cause, and kind of fun even, particularly for those of us who live with beasts and like to post photos of them
zootoo, a pet site, is having a competition for a shelter make-over
I just found this out and registered to benefit my neighbourhood rescue
I was thinking about asking people here to support Sean as well, but I think Lori needs it too and we should be able to get both shelters into the top 20, which is where they'll end up with something, even if it's not the total make-over
I am not sure that I can register you for Lori, since I'm signed on for Sean, but just accepting an invitation results in the shelter getting a substantial point boost for both parties, so somebody should sign on for Lori and then invite a bunch of people
and if anyone here wants to support Sean, they could pm me and I'll invite them
anyway - here's the link:

We're not eligible. :( The rules state that it has to be a "brick and mortar" buisness establishment and specifically say "Rescue groups that use private homes as rescues are not eligible".
But thank you, Rhea, for thinking of us!! Is Sean eligible? If so, let's get him the $$!!!!!

No offence, but I don't know Sean, I would like to help Loris' critters, in whatever small way I can...... there are lots of us, if we all help a little bit.....

I want to help both
since Lori and Natalie cannot participate in the make-over thing, we'll have to think of something else to help them
Sean has the only reptile rescue in the NY metropolitan area that takes everything
the man does not sleep, I think, and the space needs are staggering
this site that has the contest could help him expand his shelter
participation is totally free - the site is basically using this contest to increase their traffic, and it's not a bad site - sort of a general networking site for pet owners
anyway - for those of you who do want to do this, I've figured out the easiest way
here is a link too the makeover page that explains it
Zootoo Shelter Makeover II (http://www.zootoo.com/makeover/)
signing up and everything is free
when you sign up they'll ask you to list the shelter and the rescue you wish to support
list Sean Casey Animal Rescue for both - you will find them in the 11218 zip-code in the zootoo directory
once you are registered, ask me to be your friend - my name there is drachenquatsch
when I accept it'll be 50 shelterpoints for each of us
then other things such as posting photos and writing stuff will also fetch varying amounts of points
thanks for helping

I'm in! We have all had a lot of pleasure from Loris' comical animal photos over the past year. Horses and such are expensive to keep, I'm sure. I'd hate to think of any of the critters we've seen on here suffering. Perhaps we can all do a little bit, financially, which cumulatively might add up to a bigger bit, to help Loris' animals through this difficult winter.

There's a site called "fundable.com" which collects pledges for you. You don't have to be a charity, either. I made up a page, check it out:
