I have just started converting my Radixs over to pinkies and fuzzys. I noticed in the bottom of the pinkies bag a lot of broken off legs and tails. I was about ready to throw them away when I realize how great these would be for newborns. They could be scented with worms if needed. I just tested out my idea on my 9 day olds. "Like fish to water" They like it, they like it. It can only help when they are older and mice is on the menu. My adults are eating fuzzies right from my hand, no scenting required. I have a very old female who reacted like she remembered these things and now won't take worms when fuzzies are available.

Too funny Steve...
I use the little broken off tails and feet to make "Garter Goulash"
Chop up fish and worms, mix in the pinky limbs and serve the paste to my babies, they gobble it up.
I guess great minds must think alike:cool:

I do the Garter Goulash thing with the snapped off bits too! I'm sure there's a thread about it somewhere.
My babies take them straight off!

For some odd reason, I don't end up with that many broken-off legs and tails. :) But it's still a good idea to use them.

Sometimes there seem to be very few lost limbs in the bag... other times there are dozens! I guess it depends on how the bags have been handled after freezing.

I just got my first order from rodent pro and was suprised at all the broken bits in the bag... and the one or two mouse droppings...not a huge deal, but thought it was odd. Guess not, eh?

I honestly think that those are "flash frozen" (euthanizes and prepares all in one step)
Then they are packed in dry ice (many times colder than your freezer) only to be handled by UPS the shipping firm most notorious for rough handling boxes.
Ever seen Terminator 2, the scene where the liquid nitrogen tank ruptures?
I have even found broken off heads in those bags.
Need pinky parts, whack one of those with a blunt object moments after you open the box.

Yeah, that's what I figured, too, Wayne. Was just a wee bit suprised.

I've yet to have a single mitt or tail flopping around... If I did, of course I'd use them.

Apparently my pinkies were shipped via the back roads since I had a large number of them broken in half and almost all of them were missing legs and tales. No matter, it's still "Good Eats" for my little scrubs. When I first introduced my Radixs to minnows they went crazy for them but these pinkies and fuzzies have brought out the preditor in them.
I can imagine a wild Radix coming across a nest of newborn mice! "Party"
If more people realized the important part they play in our lives then maybe they would get some of the respect they deserve. My oldest Radix(Big big) seems to have a new lease on life since I started feeding her fuzzies.

My local independent store sells them for $1.49 each. That's legalized stealing! I saved and ordered 300 from mtolypetsupply here on the forum. Saved a lot of money
$447 for the pet store
$80 from mtolypetsupply, shipped

Around me there are a few pet stores...
The best one is LLLreptiles, its a reptile/amphibian store, you can search their website if you'd like.
They sell all sorts of feeders, there is a local independent pet store around me too, they sell pinkies.
But I'd like to know if Petco sells pinkies. Now for how much, but do they even sell them?

Isnt it crazy how they can even charge that much for a pinkie? How can a pinkie cost nearly as much as an adult mouse. I was thinking that when i bought pinkies today.

All I want for christmas is big box of pinkies:)
I just looked, LLL should charge less than the "shipped price" for a cash and carry pickup.

OMG Wayne you are too funny!!!! unwrapping a present full of pinkies is too funny!!
Yeah order from Stephi is alot cheaper and the pinkies are great. The petstore costs way too much. I bought a container of pinkies that had 6 in there for 10 bucks at Petsmart!! I bought 100 pinkies from Stephi for 11 bucks or 12 bucks plus shipping!!! sooooo much cheaper..:D

I wonder what the mall santa would say...
Santa - "Ho Ho Ho what do you want for Christmas?"
Mice
Santa - "What kind of mice would you like?"
A bag of dead frozen ones:D
