Hi I was just wondering if snakes seem happier when they have another snake to live with? or are they better alone? I have a ribbon

I have had garters and ribbons that have better feeding habits and health when housed with 1 or 2 others. And ones that showed feeding issues etc when housed with other garter/ribbons. So just make sure the snakes in question are healthy and then let them tell you if they are happy. ;)

It depends on the snake.
Some garters are best off alone.
Others seem to do more when they have a room mate.
Never seems to be a reason for it one way or the other.

I house my Juv. together. 6-7 all in one enclosure. They seem to like the togetherness. I've noticed that it helps stimulate feeding because of the added competition. I hand feed so there aren't any fights. I very rarely find one of my radixs off by themselves. At times I have had them alone and notice less activity. They don't seem to want to explore as much when they are by themselves. I agree with the other post. They'll let you know if that's what they want.
