View Full Version : Hello hello!
Hey everyone, I'm a longtime/renewed garter fan. I just acquired my first garter since about 96, and this little girl has just reminded me how awesome garters, ribbon and brown snakes can be.
I only have one at the moment; a large, common garter. And I have a sneaking suspicion that she may be pregnant. But, that's for another thread isn't it? Anyway...
I'm a freelance writer, I dabble in the martial arts and I volunteer as a 4-H shooting sports instructor. As you may have guessed, I spend the remainder of my free time playing with snakes and other critters. :)
Looking forward to posting here! =3

Hi Hannah, and welcome aboard. It'll be interesting to hear how the pregnancy progresses. How did you acquire her, and what makes you think she's pregnant? Kind regards,
Rick
Hello Rick, nice to meet you.
I got her, (along with a young male) about four months ago. They were both wild caught from a friend.
Unfortunately, the male died about a month and a half ago after mating with the female almost constantly.. The female is hale and hardy. She's alert, active and her appetite has gone through the roof, and she looks plump. Since she's been eating so much, I haven't handled her, (trying to avoid regurgitation.)… Oi, I do have a lot of questions.
Pregnancy just occurred to me today, so I've been searching the web for info, and there's not a lot. This forum is a very welcome find.. :)
:) Welcome to the forum Hannah. Hope you'll post some photos of your new pet for us.
Enjoy the forum,

Welcome aboard!
Sure is well represented, although I'm still waiting for somebody else from my country to show up. Would be good get to know some local garter enthusiasts. :)

Howdy and welcome to the forum. That's very cool about your garter possibley being prego. Even if you lost the male, maybe he was able to pass along his genes into the little ones. You'll have to post some pics of them when and if they're born.
Roy
PS...What martial arts do you practice?, I have belts in Tae Kwan Do and Tang Soo Do and also do a little Crav and Jujitsu.

I she is pregnant, you'll love the little ones. I just got 12 of them. Super Cute!
I'm trying to confirm this pregnancy, and if she has a litter, (if that's what you call a bunch of garters?) I'd be extatic. If not, I'm still having a ball with her. :)
Another martial artist! :D I'm ranked in kendo and iaido, (testing for my black in both before this year's out) but on the side for fun, I practice jodo and both large and small circle jujitsu.

Very cool! I was to test for my black belt in Tang Soo Do last year, but I moved to work 2nd shift and the school I was at didn't have any AM classes. Still looking for another school so I can finish things up.
That's frustrating.. Our kendo dojo has taken a few hits recently, (one instructor out on chemo, and the other moved to NYC) so we're down to one, marathon practice a week.
Good luck with your practice search and your test. :)
