You know what??? I did a BIG BIG OOPS!!! I think he has Mites. I saw a little tiny bug crawling around him.. I so forgot to do that so I need to take a trip to petsmart to get a container for him to be in and scrub that cage out. I didnt even think about keeping him away from the other guys for a bit :(:mad: I am mad at myself for that. My own stupid mistake. Shame on me:mad::eek: But how to get rid of mites??? Are they little black dots thats move all over the snake?

i'd just try and get them sepetated asap and treat each individually..... and make sure you boil/ bake all the wood stuff in the cage so they don't hide in there...... prob. best to put them in bare cages with just disposible paper products...... and i'd keep the new one seperate just in case..... he may have other parisites........

Dealing With Mites And Other Problems

I know some of us have had those stupid little bugs called MITES.. Just the word
sends a shiver down my back.. I hate them with a passion as do others I talk to..
So what to you do if your snakes have mites? Well it's quite simple really and it takes some time and ALOT of praying.. (Sorry about the pics they are coming
soon)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Equate lice bedding spray works GREAT!!! ***MAKE SURE IT DOS NOT CONTAIN DEET*** And its like $4.00 bucks if that at walmart back in the meds department..
1. Take the reptile out of it enclosure wash and spray it with water (only water) from top to bottom... (Any and all fake plants, bedding and water bowl NEEDS to thrown away..) Dry entire tank with a towel..
2. While your doing that put the reptile in a plastic tub of warm water to soak NOTHING BUT warm water..
3. Take the tank and spray every bit of the inside and out of the tank with the equate bedding lice treatment do this outside so none of it is in the house.. Let it dry for 30 mins to an hour.. Any excess that has not dried wipe off with a towel you can throw away..
4. Get paper towels and spray 5-6 each individually front and back with the bedding spray.. Wait another 30 mins to put them back in the tank.. ***MUST NOT BE WET OR DAMP WHEN YOU TOUCH THEM*** Lay a layer of them on the bare tank floor..
5. Place the snake that has soaked this entire time back in the tank after you have towel dried him..
6. For extra air place a fan on the lowest setting possible near the tank cage..
7. Leave him in there for about 4-5 hours with that...
I promise you that will take care of the mites faster then anything.. Mites and lice have the same body structure.. This treatment melts them and the eggs. But you may have to repeat in 3-5 days because the eggs that the females layed under the scales will hatch and the 2nd treatment will will get the rest before they can come into adult hood..
Deadly to snakes and there's no cure.
