OK so I'm preparing for a 13 foot 120-130 lb female albino green Burmese python to be here this Sunday.. She eats 5lb rabbits so that gives you and estimate of how big she is.. I'm getting it's 6 foot vision cage and everything.. We're thinking about breeding her to my friends male albino burm thats het for albino Labyrinth ... This is the thread of her and if we breed her so you can see how everything that goes on.. :D:D Pictures to follow as soon as she gets here.. Her name by the way is Isabella.. :D

There does seem to be a common misconception that we can regulate growth by not feeding them as much.

I'd wager to say most of the bites/attacks reported were from UNDERFED individuals.

Even the super mellow Ball Python can get nasty when they are not fed enough...

I just love the BIG snakes, I'll never buy one, but I'd never turn away one in need either.

Wouldn't mind a yellow anaconda at all, Build it a pond and feed it quail:D

people can hinder growth and development by not feeding them..... not good for the snakes tho.

Yeah. If you fed newborn babies say, once a month. They would live but grow very, very slowly... So it's true in a way. But NOT good for the snakies of course.

I have debated about yellows, and even greens, since I have the house to myself.

Man, that could make one super cool living room super huge walk-in display cage.

now thats a hard sentence to read.

But it all comes down to the fact that I cant move a large snake by myself. maybe a yellow, but probably not a green, full grown that is- because unlike most people that buy the big species, I do imagine what I'll do when they get that big.

Crazy....I would never think of owning a pet like that.

A question to the OP. Any pictures of the tank your keeping her/him in? I saw one picture, was that his tank? The 6ft long one? Do such huge snakes not need any hides or things to climb on? Because that tank had nothing in it.

She is quarantine right now.. for up to 6 months.. i have to put news paper in their but tonight i was watching out for mites if she had them.. She's a rescue.. Also easier to spot the little buggers with a bare cage.....

Just an idea for consideration, there is a brush on product for vehicles that is used in place of spray-on Rhino Liner. Called Hercu-liner, it is durable and waterproof. Once cured, it should be inert.

You could put some plastic sheeting down, then plywood over your subfloor and over some (or all) of the sheetrock in the room, possibly even seal the gaps with a thin bead of caulk so that the Herculiner didn't bleed through, and then apply the herculiner over that, for a waterproof room.

If you install the extra plywood, if/when the time comes to change that room back from an animal room, you could easily remove the plywood, and have normal sheetrock and subflooring without having to replace it all. I don't know how messy the snake is, but I'm thinking that over the sheetrock, I'd run the 4x8 sheet longways, covering the lower 4' of the wall, if you don't think you'd need any covering the whole wall.

The herculiner comes in a bunch of different colors, so you could choose something that really offsets her coloring, or looks really natural, oh, the possibilities are endless!!! :)
