Well. Here I sit. Expecting my Carmello, an Eastern Milk named after his mother.

Nah. I'm not that fond o'them - Eastern Milks, but I am of Carmello... Long story:

When I realized I loved Winnie, the Common Eastern Garter we kept at the Visitor Center at Wild River... I went looking for a snake we could use at the park - a native snake - that I could have as mine, but take to the park to use in Dave's Sunday program.

He, Dave, so wanted a milk snake as he's always, ALWAYS wanted one - I hate(d) them - but I couldn't find one. Nope. I looked high and low and there was NO ONE doing Eastern Milks.

So, I went Western Hoggies. They are in MN, but we're not sure if in the park. And then I realized I could have Garters WAY DIFFERENT looking than Winnie, put my order in for a Hoggy(ies) and got my first garters.

Then after months, like a dufus-bobo head I REALIZED Dekay had an Eastern Milk... And that she had babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I totally flipped out!

Cutting the story short... Come this Saturday, I will be getting Carmello, named after his mother. He will live with me; I will cuddle and kiss and pester and hug and feed by hand the widdo boy [because the park doesn't have room to keep him]...

And Dave will have his coveted Eastern Milk he's ALWAYS wanted and it will be *his* on Sundays.

He is VERY EXCITED and happy. And I'm so happy I can do this for him - the man is my mentor and has been so good to me.

But I couldn't have done it w/o Dekay. Dekay, hugs and kisses to you. No, I've never really wanted a milk, but I do for Dave and Carmello will not be kissed and messed with any less than the others here.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to make a good person very, very happy. You are a dear.

Hehehehehehehe. Well, Carmello was actually meant to be my first snake - I just couldn't find him! Then I realized how much I loved Winnie, found this place...

One thing, Please keep handling of these down to a minimum.

For one, they are a little harder to get hold of than a garter of the same size.

The tails have a more abrupt taper to them, so grabbing the tip of it is a bit of a challenge.

Milks are somewhat more reclusive than garters, so they will behave a little more like a corn snake. (hide a lot)

Hiding's fine, Dekay. And I understand Carmello may be up and about when I sleep. Dangit.

But I will need to socialize him. Eventually he will be used in the snake program at Wild River, with Ripley (bull snake) and Winnie (garter) and my Hoggies. The whole reason I got him was for Dave wanting one and so he could use him in the snake program on Sundays.

But I know about babies. I'm dealing with Niizh and handle him about a minute or two a day.

I'll keep my eye on Carmello and handle accordingly. I'm not as exuberant (sp?) as I once was, having put more more miles under my belt. I realize he's just a baby and I will always have this in the forefront of my mind.

My goal is for him to thrive and live a long and happy Milkey life. Not to kiss him to death or put a leash on him. But he does need to be socialized and I will do that gradually over time.

Really, Dekay, I have only his BESTEST interests at heart. He's not just a thing to me, but a distinct individual/personality. If anything happened to him, it would hurt me just as much as if anyone else snakey here I have had something happen to them.

I'm not taking Carmello lightly, but I'm not going to lie to you. We want him socialized in order for visitors to be able to finger touch him. Please note, I will always be there when Carmello's used in the program since he's going to be living with me and I'm going to be socializing him. So I'll be able to set peramiters on touching and what Carmello is ready to take on and what he isn't. I'm not worried about Dave, the snakemeister. But I will be there to interceed if I'm not comfortable with what the visitors are attempting with Carmello and Dave will NOT bat an eye at me interceeding. He understands how I put the kids first.

If you have any other thoughts or possible worries, please - address them. And I will listen.

Again, HUGE, HUGE hugs to you. I'm in love with Carmello and I've never seen him yet!

Small glitch in Carmello coming. He didn't. While a titch disappointed, not despondent as it just spreads the fun around and I've another baby to look forward to hopefully next weekend! :)

He'll get here. When it's the best time for him.

He's got the mittens and boots, and the funny Norwegian pokey-uppy-hat with the tassle on top and the funny things that hang down... But wee long underwear is not easy to find.

Keep lookin', Dekay! I expect you'll find it eventually. Of course, once Carmello gets here and the rest o'the sniglettes see his wardrobe... I'm gonna have hell to pay and have to get everbuddy else spiffy clothes.

Well... Dekay and I have been talking. Both of us have decided to wait until spring to get Carmello to me. I've paid for Carmello and I trust Dekay. If... never mind. Don't want to invoke the gods... But, yeah, there will be other clutches. So, I'm happy.

This will be better for Carmello. He'll be older, Dekay can get him on f/t (hear that, Dekay?????????), and we don't have to worry about the frigid temps here (maybe even in NY...) and heat packs pooping out, delays, sitting on the tarmac, etc., etc., etc., blah, blah, blah.

So... I wait. BUT!!!! The anticipation and EXCITEMENT builds! By the time Carmello gets here, I'll just snuggle him to death and eat him alive! WWWWOOOOOO!

Can you sew? If "sew" (ROFLOLPMP!!!) do up a summer outfit for Carmello. Shorts and like a tropical shirt. Toss in a straw hat and sunglasses if you can find them.
