Great pics, Sjoerd, I especially like the Perentie. I'm afraid I don't know the spider.... I only do European species really. I'm pretty sure it's a Sparassid though.

Todays a new day and I'll post some Uluru / Alice springs picture in a few minutes

reptileparadise
10-23-2008, 01:27 PM
Allrightie
Uluru (ayers rock) and Alice springs. I always thought these two where close to each other and that busses would depart from Alice springs to Uluru...Well, the busses are there, but its an 500 km drive...Oops...
All pics look sunny and desertlike, but sadly we arrived in the coldest part of winter and we never experienced temperatures above 15 celcius here...The nights where just as cold as in Sydney and yes...we are the best! The first night we went in the desert (I know...its way to cold for nice geckos, but it was worth the try) we got lost....We wandered around for about an hour of an hour and a half before we finally saw something familiar. (shh haven't told my parents about getting lost yet...)

Sunrise...Pretty, but damn cold (4 celcius...freezing my *** off)

Uluru, seen from an other angle

These are the olga's (cant really see the rocks, because we are in on of the gorges...Windy gorge...and yes...very windy!)

The only active reptiles we've seen here. Not sure on the species. I thought the might have been H. frenatus, but the tail doesnt match (I know the tail is a regenerated one, but still)

@Gertie; I have to admit, I had some fun with the crabs...They can dig themselves in so fast, they really disapear in front of you!
If you provoke them (sorry guys...) they even use their boxinggloves :D
And offcourse, just walking in such a big group is awesome! They swarm around you, running for their lives. Its actually very, very impressive to see those crabs around you. It makes you feel humble. (even though the beach is the size of Holland...that didn't impress nearly as much as the crabs that where only a couple of centimeters!)
