Hi Guys,
Great news! Bertha, my largest female T. radix gave birth today (her first time). 18 healthy babies, 3 stillborn and 8 jelly beans..... more on this later...:)

Thanks for the well-wishes, Guys. The babies all appear fine, about half of them have sloughed already and the rest are in the process. They're a good size, about 7 or 8 inches long.
Bertha's doing fine.... she ate about 150 pound of fish this evening!
I'll take some pictures over the next day or so.

Congrats. Are you keeping them together and how do you feed them. I take all of mine out of their viv's and feed them in hagan Tanks but with the babies i dont know if it's ok to keep touching them until they are big as it might stress them too much. what are your tips.

Bit of an update..... All 18 babies are now feeding well of eathworms and trout strips. I was going to introduce them to the delights of pinky parts today, but my supplier is all out until Wednesday.

I'm not so sure that I'll be parting with any of them, Stefan. If all goes to plan I should have the outdoor enclosure made by the spring..... so I'll need to stock it!:D

Right. :D 18 radix is just about right for an outdoor enclosure. ;)

Yes, I think so. It's going to be 4.5 meters long by 1.5 meters wide..... so I don't think over crowding should be an issue with those numbers.

James your Radix babies have a really nice hue to the dorsal stripes.

The stripes on mine a a lot more orange, that "neon" yellow look is stunning.

Quick update...... All 18 babies are now accepting trout, pinky parts and (of course) earthworms from forceps.
14 of them have had their first 'proper' slough.
I'll try to make time for photographs on Sunday.:)
