Our boys went for a walk with their Grand mother yesterday, only to return with two red belly hatchlings!I have them in one of my temporary ten gallons, but I need to know the best way to get them feeding!?!They've been here for just over 24hrs now and I was curious as to how long these little buggers can go without food?I learned great patience with Mr. Pink but these guys are so little!!!Any and ALL help would be greatly appreciated!:)p.s. pics are comming!

Baby red belly neonates are very difficult to take care of. If you don't get them feeding soon their health will be in great danger... try tiny earthworm peices... if they dont eat those... you will have to use baby slugs, or slug pieces and scent with the slugs to get them on worm peices. Again... they are high strung little snakes I even had trouble getting my babies to eat! and they were born in captivity... if you cannot get them to eat very soon... it is best to set them free before it gets too late in the season and it's too cold outside. good luck...!

I have to agree with Shannon.
We raised a litter, set them free, and the mom. Very unhappy little snakes, total contrast to the Dekayi they are so closely related to.
Never even handled them except for feedings and cleanings.
They are not impossible to work with, it just takes a lot of patience.

That really sucks!!!I think I'll stick to releasing them if they don't touch slug bits tomorrow!:(

That is exactly the perfect way to say it. My adults took me a good month to get them accustomed to captivity.. but they are doing really well now!

He ate two bits!ROB was a little slower but ate the biggest peice! They are named Rob & Big (mtv show) cause one us small and light and the other is big and dark!lol I hope they keep up the good work! Thanks again!!!!:)
