I'm relatively new here, and looking for my first garter. I'm wondering who the infamous "Bob" is that people don't speak highly of. I've seen him referred to negatively on some other threads, but never see a last name.

I don't know anyone in the reptile community, or at least the Garter community, so I don't know who to look out for and who to trust. Will anyone be bringing some Puget babies to Hamburg this weekend? I'm hoping to pick one up there.

Welcome, Nice to have you here. I'm new here also and don't know who you're referring to. Hope you get your first Garter soon.

I've been wondering myself. I read he advertises on kingsnake.com, but I could only find a seller under Robert something. Is that the dude? :confused:

I went to Fauna Classified's Board of Inquiry, but "bob" is way too general of a search term. I have seen Amy and *Rob* Zerkle listed, but there's only good feedback on them, so I'd doubt they are one and the same.

Thanks for the wishes I get my first garter soon! It would be my second ever, poor Euripides passed away about 21 years ago. :( He was such a sweet little common Eastern Garter! I haven't had a snake since, so I guess it's like I'm a born-again snake virgin, lol.

I saw Amy's name listed as a vendor at the show at Hamburg, so I'm *hoping* she'll have her Pugets with her. I'm so excited! This week is habitat preparation week, to hopefully welcome home our new baby on Saturday! I spoke with her on the phone not too long ago, and she emailed me some pics, I emailed her back, but she didn't respond yet.

Amy, if you come on the boards here and read this post, I would like one of the Pugets, please please please!!!!!! See ya in Hamburg!

Bob catches garters from his area and sells them on the internet....several members have gotten misidentifed species and sick animals....you have a 50/50 chance of getting a decent snake. he catches lots and keeps the mothers til they pop then sells the babies.... best to stick with a reputable breeder...

I don't think that anybody has a last name. 'Bob' is the name everybody refers to. He mainly sells the blue pugets ( but these may be ordinoides when you receive them ).

OMG!!! Aundrea & I saw this ad... I emailed about them, & no email was returned for over a week. he finally emailed Aundrea, but not me.

I am sooooooooooo glad we didn't send him any money. I am glad I am getting my BLUE from Shannon.

Nope. I think the Zerkel's are on the east coast (?). "Bob" is on the west.

No, in Washington State from what I remember. I *almost* bought from him, too, but was warned and educated. Wayne, you are a HOOT, I never knew his last name either... he just goes by BOB on kingsnake.

They are shipping today or tomorrow!!! :-) The female was in shed so he wanted to wait. I am VERY EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!
