anyone know how to kill algae in a turtles tank??? i need to clean it off all of her stuff dock ect... can i use bleach? would this kill it?

I am not sure if this will help, I don't own a turtle... I do have fish, & their decorations in the tank all have that green algae on them. But not the slimy kind.

If algae grow in your rocks and tank decorations, unless they disturb your sense of beauty, you can let them grow. An exception is the long, hairy kind which also makes the water slimy. Those, you should remove. Algae will grow in healthy water with enough light. They are a sign that you are doing something right. Do not use chemicals to kill algae!!!
If you don't like the algae, brush them off every time you change the water, change the water more often, use a stronger filter, and add a little salt to the water."

Can you get one of the "sucker fish" or will the turtle eat it? Those little guys keep my Goldfish tank spotless for months on end! :p

yeah... he'll eat or scare it to death.... but i do have one... lol i don't want to kill it... what about water snails???

Looks like apple snails are out of the question, they can eat those too!

yeah.... but he's small (1/2 the size of a computer mouse?) for now.... i think those might be better than a fish lol

Elbow grease... Just get a scotch sponge and wipe off the algae. Its safe and easy. Never use and house hold cleaning products on or near your set up or on your turtle. Unless its Windex on the exterior glass... IMO!
