Latinized Greek. :) Thamnophis is a combination of two Greek words, meaning "bush" and "snake", but it's written in the Latin alphabet and should technically follow the Latin grammatical rules when you create a scientific name or use it. :) So there's only one correct way to write it, but no correct way to pronounce it. :D

I pronounce it thumb-no-fiss with an emphasis on the first syllable
I pronounce it garter or ribbon!
once I up my ranks with some quality posts then I'll make the transition to the Latin-Greek name.
Actually sorry for the REpost but I was curious about the 1.1.
1.1 is that a one to one male female ratio?

first number is males, 2nd is females, and if there is a third, it is for unknown sex.
1.2.6 = 1 male, 2 females and 6 unsexed.
