well normally i don't adopt out of state if i cant help it.. but in certain cases where I'm overly full like i am now i ask for out of state assistance.. I normally ask if you do adopt from me to please bring me back the reptile if you can no longer care for it.. But being out of state that cant happen.. All i ask is love this little reptile like one of your kids.. i am very picky who i choose.. Please don't be mad at me if i don't choose you as i might choose you for a later rescue.. if any one of you would like fill out a adoption appt. and contract on my website and send it to me, me and my husband will reveaw it and will get back with you as soon as they are all looked over..

also just to give a run down if we come across wild snakes in our area.. As I get more WC it seems then CCB.. People get them in the wild and then keep them by the time i get them its to late to put them in the wild again because they don't know how to live in the wild..:(:( if you click on the name of the snake it goes to the conservation page and you can see the pic of the snake..

Natalie, why are you condoning some guy going out and getting WC snakes?

Or did I misread/understand your post? It sounds/reads like you're going to meet with a guy who's friend goes out and gets WC snakes...

I was under the impression you're in rescue?

I'm lost and confused here...

I had a wild caught from Kansas....not sure how well he would have done.....he committed suicide....I came into my critter room and found his head stuck between the lid and the cage....tried to escape and got his head caught.....:(

Hmm, well, of the wild caughts I own all but the male wandering are doing well with captivity.
He got out a 3rd time yesterday; my ma saw him peeking around a corner. lol
Crafty little devil; now he's in with the females. XD

I have kept a smooth green I found in my backyard for a bit... he did alright. they need a cage that's heavily planted to feel secure. They are great because they eat insects! Possibly the most plentiful food there is. I don't recommend keeping green snakes unless you really know what you are doing, they seem to drop dead for almost no reason sometimes. I would only buy them if they were CB from a breeder who owns and bred the adults theirself... the ones you see in pet stores and most on KS are wild caught, and are usually already worn out past being saved. It is a shame that the prettier and more needy an animal is... the more it is exploited and mass murdered by the pet trade. Green Snakes, Green Iguanas, hermit crabs and Sunbeam snakes all fall into this category.

have you guys seen all the sunbeams snakes that have been wrangled lately up just because thy're pretty? Nobody really understands them... and they often die in captivity of either starvation, or when people think that the white spots that they get on thier skin is from being too wet, and dry them out... and then boom the snake develops a resp and dies! The truth is... the white spots indicate not enough humidity.

Mostly just a passing thought anyways, Limon is lots of green snake!

His attitude is moody. The more time I spend with him the more I learn about his quirks.

He has bit, and when he cocks back and lets rip, it hurts! he is a bit over 4 feet and still growing super fast, he sheds every month.

Any clues just exactly how big a Cyclophiops Major can get??

I assume the Major in it's species name means "Big".

Garter_Gertie
09-28-2008, 03:45 PM
I-Yi-Yi! I'd suspect the same, Dekay... So? Can't find anything out on the 'Net regarding BIG?

Yikes! You guys may have to move to a single room and make the rest o'the house the Snake House...

my rough green is very nice and has never struck. he/she loves crickets and we have we call him limeyin a very tall enclosure with LOTS of vines and limbs for him to climb up . he will take a cricket out of your fingers if you offer it to him. we havnt had any problems with ours he seems to be flourishing.
