I am fortunate enough to have never dealt with mouth rot. I am not even sure what I would look for...?

Good point, Kitkat. Look back at Marian's first picture, here (http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/urgent-care/365-de-worming.html). This is an early case, but notice how the "lips" don't come together and make a nice, closed seal. The gums are slightly swollen and are pushing the "lips" out sideways. When Marian said there was a thick discharge, it was practically an open and shut case.
As the condition progresses, the discharge becomes more sticky and thick, like a puss that hardens into a scab. More advanced cases also show small, red dots along the gums where blood vessels are becoming exposed. They start openly bleeding in advanced cases, and the discharge can become so thick that it actually seals the mouth shut.

You can clean it with chloorhexidine 0.2%
the bacteries die... and after that there come a second skin...
thank you for your suggestion. I just got a gallon of that (generic Nolvasan) the other day in the mail. I was using povidine because I did not have any.
thanks again !!

Wow, this is really turning into quite the site!
I don't have a clue, however, about mouth rot so I am useless:p
