Once you get the pics posted, I'm sure someone will be able to figure it out :)

Congratulation on your find. You will need to change its diet. Garter do not eat insect. I would suggest trying Guppies and worms to start and later add chopped up pieces of mouse pinkies.

Hello and welcome.

Can you please describe your snake, color, markings and so forth?

Don't feed it any of those crickets, it would likely show no interest anyways. Small earthworms would be best until we are sure of the species. Some smaller ground snakes are commonly confused with garters so a positive ID will be helpful:D

Sounds like your off to a good start, And I like the ironic name "Anaconda":D

agreed on removing the bugs. They will not eat them and it will just make a mess.

Guppies in a small bowl are good.

For background information, I'd suggest you spend an hour or so reading up and printing off materials from this website:

FAQ: Frequently asked questions about reptiles • mcwetboy.com (http://www.mcwetboy.com/reptiles/faq.php)

It's the best for overall garter care that I have come across.

Good luck!
