Seeing as most of my garters will be brumating this winter, I'll have time to focus on yet another project I've added to my repertoire: amphibians. I vended at the last reptile show (Pics soon in another thread :P) And graciously acquired 3 Kaloula pulchra and 3 Bombina orientalis juveniles from a trade for roaches. Out of curiosity I also bought a barking tree frog and a pacman frog. (Both of which I love to DEATH.)
So, I'm wondering if any one out there has some advice or experience with 'phibs. I know there aren't a lot of people out there with an interest in amphibians, but any additional info would be appreciated.
:)

Well, I don't have any of those species, but I keep Theloderma corticale. You can see them in this thread (http://http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/garter-snake-lounge/2796-mossy-frogs-anyone.html). I enjoy my frogs. I think the fire belly toads can be kept in a similar set up as the mossies (a bit more land area is needed for the toads, though) from what I've read...

Ok, it seems the link I added isn't working...not sure why...Anyway, the thread is titled "Mossy frogs, anyone?" in the garter lounge. Or do a search for mossy frogs.

I'm in the process of purchasing some sphagnum moss; it looks stunning with frogs AND for cleaning, all you have to do is wring it out. :P
I'll get some frog pictures soon; my amphibian count went from 0 to 8 in 5 hours. XD
I wonder if I could breed barking treefrogs...

Could've had an albino. The guy haggled me out of it. XD
I like the normals anyways; I just want to grow the little guy MASSIVE.

I adopted five white's tree frogs (dumpy, smiling) a few months back
they eat, they poop and a couple of them croak in response to loud noises, or when they feel like it
they're super cute
I'd love to have a barking tree frog some day and I've been eyeing tomato frogs too

If I could find a good dumpy breeder/ good stock at the next show, I'm so getting one. For housing, I found these neat 9.5 diameter containers that keep the humidity just right. Also, sphagnum moss is my new personal fave for frogs. Got a brick of it coming in soon I hope. :P
Just wring it out for cleaning time and you can use it as the sole substratum. :P
