Poor Simon was beginning to look cramped in his 10gal. starter tank. So when a co-worker offered me his old 35gal. fish tank I jumped at it.All I had to do was clean it.....

Thank you very much Sid. That top was the cause of much of my cursing.I had purchased a Zilla top, which I was assured would fit...not even close!!!!

Ha!
I love how Sid is obviously exploring for any potential escape routes around the top!

That's still a concern of mine..Although it's a VERY tight fitting lid. I know that as Simon gets to adult size, he could potetially lift it.So i'm planning to make 2 side latcheds of some kind.Still stuck on that design though!!!:o

Well done! :)
Very nice looking lid. Definitely want to add those latches. I still use good old fashion bricks myself. Fastest and most secure lid and "latch" combo I have used yet.
If that is regular window screen, just one thing to remember, it will work fine for the snake, but make sure you dont have a house cat or something that can get at it. I've known a few people have housepets get through their screen lids either by sitting on it or by wanting at the reptile.
I have been busy making 10 new lids myself.

Very nice:D
Our first ever escape was "CY" the corn snake, he pushed the top open.
You cleaned it up good. That is one huge tank for that corn, must be pretty happy.

When I fed my corn snake last night, I noticed he looked cramped (They grow super fast) in his 20 gallon.
So I have been thinking I should build Chomper his big 8 foot cage, and then I can move the BP (Cain) to chompers old box, and that would free up the 55 gallon to move CY into.
After this, I only really want one more "big" snake.
Garters are easy, they stay somewhat small:D

Sorry my photo host is down for another day or two, Chomper is our Savannah Monitor.
A really big lizard or a really small dinosaur:D
When he reaches maturity he will be quite large, and he needs lots of room to move around and dig tunnels.
His current enclosure is 4 feet wide, and he already takes up quite a bit of the inside.
The enclosure is really nice, so I do want to re-do it for another critter.

Yeah, he is (in a reptilian sort of way)
We were going to get iguanas instead, but Dorothy had a monitor once before (named gasp "Barney") so I got her another.
Chomper (almost the same lines) I named him after the little T-Rex on land before time. "Chomp chomp chomp"

Ok we have "hijacked" this thread:eek:
Sorry Marc & Marie...... Chomper is kinda popular here.
That is a great looking corn, how old is it?
We got ours last fall at petco, and he is freaking huge compared to that little pencil lead we brought home that day.

That is going to be the exact dimensions of Chompers cage, 5 sheets of plywood and a glass shower door.
Once upon a time I thought I was going to go "corn crazy" but fell in love with the Garter snakes instead.
I would never give up CY, he is a fixture of the snake room now, but I don't see myself ordering a bunch of them any day soon.
Sure I could get a whole clutch of corns for the price of one Infernalis, but guess what I'd rather have:D
