My friend in Tennessee lives on a mountain range, and he found this garter:

Looks like a red-sided minus the red!
So of course you know I'll be having it shipped here to "get a better look at it." :P

nice looking garter... I haven't seen any kind of garter snake ever in my yard/backyard. I like in the country, our land is mostly trees. I have only seen 2 snakes, & I still haven't got a clue what they were. lol
your friend sending you the snake is a great choice!!!:)

I'm pretty sure it's a Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis though; hence the reason why I wanted it!
If it were found in red-sided range I'd be convinced it was one.
