OK, I think I got the picture thing figured you. I added some to the gallery, please let me know if my identification is incorrect. I took some field pics yesterday. Snakes were not the only Herps out there.

Let's play music trivia.....do you know the song this guy was referenced in? (without using Google)

Ah, what guy? I love trivia. I'm a store house of useless info. But I don't see the guy to whom you reference...

Still haven't figured out how to post bigger pics on the post, but click on the link and go to the gallery.

Otay. Did that. I'm still at a loss about the trivia thing. Do you mean what song that particular snake was referenced in?

Okay! Light bulb. Yeah. I think that's what you mean. And no, not w/o Googling. But I'll ponder it awhile. HOPEFULLY it was a song that has NOT come out in the last 15+ or so years. If so, I'm sunk!

Stefan should get this easily; what with him and taglines.

Only snake song that just pops into my mind is My Sharonna, and that's NOT the snake being referenced!

So maybe the trivia question is too tough, or maybe no one likes trivia.

Here is a few hints. The common name for the lizard in mentioned in a song, and the song was from the 70's. The song was a big hit, I will bet most over 30 have heard the song....

I know the answer and I didn't even use Google. I used Altavista. :D

I love trivia, but this one has me stumped... There's "See You Later Alligator" by Bill Haley & The Comets from the 50's. Then "Alligator Wine" which has been covered by a number of artists probably most notably Screamin' Jay Hawkins, but again, not in the 70's. Hey, how bout Crocodile Rock? I really thought the pic looked like an Alligator Lizard, tho? Yeah, I'm stuck and I know I'm going to be hitting my head in typical Homer Simpson fashion when the answer is revealed!

Damn you Stefan :)

Ugh... think I just found it... something to do with teddy bears?

Great guesses Tami...wow, good depth of music knowledge...Screamin' Jay Hawkins! You got the species correctly identified.

The group played the song at the inauguration of a well known Governor.

..who was in the same 1987 movie as another future governor, I assume. :D

Thanks Andrew, some guesses... some searching... remember the oldie's song, but had to look up the singer. LOVE Screamin' Jay Hawkins! What a character, knew that one, but time frame didn't fit. Had to search for my final teddy bear guess. Not a huge fan, there.... but love the ice cream :)

Tami...I don't get the teddy bear and ice cream references...but no references like that in the song. You live in N. Cal....near highway 101.....(another hint). Another one of their songs deals with the romance of semi-aquatic mammals....

well, poop... everyone would get the teddy bear and ice cream references so that can't be it... and I don't know enough about that band to know if the highway 101 references & semi aquatic mammals fit... sheesh... 'twas just kind of fun before... now it's bugging me... especially since Stefan knows the answer :D

What is the teddy bear and ice cream references?

Captain and Tenille covered the mammal song....

A certain stretch of highway 101 is referred to as __________ (the name of the song)

I hate giving up, but mom was no help so that would be great Andrew...

Doggie has taken a turn for the worse in the last 20 minutes or so, so lots of other stuff on my mind right now... but, yeah, I'm going to want to know the answer eventually.

I don't think they were referring to this lizard specifically, I read something about them staring at the clouds, no doubt in a chemically enhanced state. But they did say "Alligator Lizards in the air...."

Since the song is called 'Ventura Highway', America was invited to preform at Jesse Ventura's inauguration.

The 70's....great music, but scary hair and clothes!

Doesn't though? Yeah, LeAnn, we've all heard that song hundreds of times and I never caught the "Alligator Lizards in the air" line before either... and it's in the chorus! Sigh... lol
