Not sure how many of you know that I occasionally dabble with polymer clay sculpting... but anyways... the other day, I was playing around with a leftover chunk... made a snake shape jsut for fun.... and well it somehow turned into... a fully sculpted, scaled, painted and glazed replica of a newborn flame eastern. One minute it was clay.... next minute I was etching each scale in with a rubber band... next minute... hes flicking his tongue at me as I paint his skin while looking at a picture of Magma!!! (hope you dont mind Wayne, Magma was the model snakey)
okay.... he has a BIG head... beause even though it is the size of a fully grown garter snake.. it is a replica of a baby! Complete with baby head spots!

Mind?? Not at all, Honored that you immortalized Magma into such a nice sculpture (A fitting memorial)
I like your fire lizards as well. I know everyone calls them dragons, unless you have heard of "Pern" (OMG I just thought of a great resource for cool snake names!)
Great sculpture, Yet another one of your photos I must "steal" for inclusion on my web site...
Thanks Shannon:D:D

Beautiful artwork, Shannon! I am kind of partial to dragons/fire lizards - it depends on the size.

Heard of it? I think I've read all the books available....:D I immediately thought of it when I read "fire lizards".

Those are awesome! You don't, by any chance, do commissions do you? Like, make one of a person's pet snake and sell it? Hmm?
You obviously have a lot of talent. I used to sculpt rats and other little rodents, but they didn't require the detail that reptiles do.

My ex (whom I am sill very much friends with) has met Anne twice and worked as an usher for her at a Pern convention once.
Beautiful work Shannon, the detailing must have taken forever! Also, very large Pern fan here, read them all several times, still have several copies after moving. I also collect dragon sculptures. Though, my ex kept all of my old collection, so I am starting over now.

Actually... that's where I am headed towards with this.... going to try and take some commissions of people's snakes because I have like 6 brand new boxes of polymer that need some scales and paint!!! I used real opals in the eyes of the dragon on the red glass ball... and will be using them for many more after him.... (I have a bag of about 40 or 50 or so cut and polished opals) I also have a bag of gemstones, too!

Ooohhh. I'll keep a look out then. I'm thinking these would make awesome gifts.
