Ok, since I will be getting my juniors licence in a couple weeks and have the ability to drive myself around I thought it would be a cool thread to see what everyone drives. I'll start.

Me: Lovely 2005 mommy mobile Chrysler Town and Country minivan
For a minivan it's wonderful. Love the stow-n-go seats! Since I have one kid driving now and the other riding with his brother most of the time we were seriously thinking of trading it in for something more interesting, but Friday night all four of our high school water polo teams(boys/girls/jv/varsity) ended up stuck about 45 minutes from home when their idiot bus driver ran out of driving hours and refused to drive them home... We put 30 something kids into parents' cars. It was nice to be able to take 6 kids. Maybe we'll keep it a little longer... it's boring as h*ll but so practical... lol
Hubby & 16 year old: 99 & 97 Jeep TJ's in constantly changing stages of off road capability

I came home form costa rica o find my dad had gotten me new rims and tires for mah car....I was so happy. But unfortuatly it still needs some work before I can have it on the road....needs new struts, brakes, and roters...something else i'm sure ahahaha. But it runs....has heated seats, a sunroof, and I am putting in a cd player or sirius/XM radio in it. My dad also got me a Kick A** bass system for it too....I better win best car for my senior year, and I better be in the yearbook....lol

LOL Good luck :D Sounds like you have a decent shot :) Very nice daddy, too! :) I think dad's really take pride and joy in helping their kids with their cars. We had secretly bought kiddo's jeep a couple months before his birthday and hubby cleaned it all up and painted it for him... now they're working on a stronger rear end. Kiddo doesn't four wheel or anything, just likes the beefier look of bigger tires & a little lift kit. He does a lot of snowboarding so trips to the mountains will be no problem with the 4 wheel drive & snow tires :D Hubby's the 4wheel drive geek, so kiddo will always be set up well, even if he doesn't go off road much :)
p.s. NICE Charlet!!! I have a friend who "collects" cadilacs. He only has two... one a 60 something ratrod and then a '05ish newer caddy. He's totally infatuated with them, tho!

and this too
MTA NYC Transit - Subway Service Information (http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm)
but I've also got some cars at my disposal
Zipcar - Car sharing, cars by the hour or day (http://www.zipcar.com/)
so far I haven't tried the BMW or the Mini, but I've used the Mazda3 and the Toyota matrix for vet visits and liked both, the Toyota pick-up handles better than the Honda Element and so does the Honda Odyssee

Why not just do what I do with pets.....buy it, and just don't tell anyone and let them find out....they almost never get mad ahahahaha. Why not get a new Mustang Shelby GT500? lol
...Nothing. Like most technology, cars prefer to just act as if I don't exist.
Which is a bit of a bummer, really, as I have a godfather who's going to leave me his rally cars...

How can you go through life without a vehicle?
You should get a smartcar....they originated in the UK.

Awww, whatsamatter with the caravan? They start annoying you after a while, don't they? I keep reminding myself how practical it is, but yeah... trees still call out to me on occasion. I had a 02 grand caravan before this 05 town and country(same van different emblems) and yeah, they're practical unless the tranny goes out or it's time to replace the brakes every other month  Really, tho, we looked at all the minivans and really like these above all others. They're perfect for the kids and awesome for the great danes, but someday... lol

LOL... they do like to cruise at around 80 :D Brakes have been a continuous problem on both of ours. We buy the lifetime warranty pads and change them constantly, but hubby has done a couple rotor changes as well. The transmission went out twice in the caravan, so far transmission is ok in this one... of course the warranty runs out in 5,000 miles so we'll see...

Lol I can never take smartcars seriously...I always think "That's not a car, it's a toy!"
drache
09-03-2008, 05:01 AM
that toy can save you money
I come from a family of people into cars
my dad drove the Ralley Monte Carlo twice and placed 5th once
my brother used to hang with the Formula One crowd that is now retired
my sibs would never drive anything less than a BMW (my bro did go through a Lotus phase, but you just don't go anywhere in the snow with a Super 7) and frankly I do drool over a few cars myself
there's a satisfying feel to a car that moves when you step on the gas and I hate driving automatic, which is unfortunately what hired cars usually are
all the same - I believe that carbon based technologies are on their way out and with it some aspects of car culture
I've been weaning myself for a while - looking for other means of cool and other ways to get the feel of driving that I like
so I'm actually quite curious whether there are some other people on this forum whose rides are . . . . different . . . quirky . . . something else . . .

Personally a big fan of feet:D I walk several miles a day.... feels good:D
When I have to drive, we got a Toyota RAV4 (SUV) that is a wonder truck... It gets great mileage, and the brakes last forever:D
However that is due to proper use of the 5 speed manual tranny, downshift and let the motor slow it down.
The dealer mad a funny face, had to custom order the truck. Toyota does not offer a fully loaded truck with standard??? seems that consumers who want AC / CD / etc... want automatic??? why?? automatic is so boring.

I owned 2 cars that were standard, I miss it!!! Also the walking, I love it too!!
I walk my neighborhood every evening, well I try to. it's 2.5 miles including hills, & we have to have kids tag along, & the animals that find us!!

Walking is mandatory, Where we live I can walk out the back door, go straight for 20-25 minutes and still be in my "back yard"
When I look out the back window, knowing that I hold the deed for most of that hill and all those woods still enthralls me, and I have been looking at that same scene off and on since 1973:D
I am third generation owner, and hope that one day my kids feel the same way about it.

I don't care enough about the specs to memorize them, but it's a '00 Honda Civic sedan. The good thing about it is that I can get my enclosures in the back seat, a fact not at all diminished by the fact that I built them to fit in the back seat of this car.
