I took a call today from a lady here in Salt Lake City while at work....came in as an exotic animal call (my fave!!!!) said she had a diamondback rattler contained in a pillowcase. first of all, we only have great basin rattlers in this area, and no diamondbacks in Utah....so I called her. she was adamont it was one...so I explained to her we didn't have them, possibly could have been a rattler. it's not common for them to get as far into town as she lives, but not impossible. there is a large horse pasture right next to her place. I said it could be a gopher snake. she said no way was it a garter, she knew them. I said I had to pick up a dog and would be there in about a half an hour. I arrived and took a peek in the pillowcase....dark purple, kinda hard to see....as I opened it up further....I found her "diamondback" crawling on the bottom of the pillowcase.... here's her diamondback.....

Very Nice!
I dont even hardly pay attention to peoples description of snakes anymore unless I think they actually know what they are talking about. I just tell them, " I'd have to see it."
6 feet long means 2 feet, yellow means brown, live means dead.

I like it when people tell me they found a five foot long(actually 20") gopher snake. Then I show them a real 5 footer, and they almost cr*p themselves.

I'm not gonna lie Don..."that's a scary snake". At least she didn't kill it as most people around here seem to do with these "killer serpents".

Nice one, Don. Can I have it? :D

I met someone today who killed a baby grass snake (completely harmless as well as protected), because one of her tenants couldn't live with the idea that there were snakes near the cottage they were renting. In the ****ing countryside. For a moment there, I seriously considered smacking her upside the head with her own cat.

One of my neighbors killed a baby milk snake last summer, it shook its tail at him, so it had to be a deadly rattle snake...

BTW 3 of my baby milks vibrate their tails... Quick Wyatt fetch a shovel

The name of this thread cracks me up every time I see it. I keep thinking of the Budweiser commercials, "Real Men of Genius"!

Riddle me this, Batman: How'd she get the killer rattler in the pillowcase WITHOUT getting bit and killed????

Inquiring minds...

Well, the real joke would have been that her border collie would have been a bit too heavy to swing properly, but I suppose you would have needed to know that she had one.

Anyway, I did feel like smacking her upside the head.

VERY nice wandering Don!! I really like the colors!!

I NEVER pay attention to peoples ID's of snakes. No one is EVER right. And I hate it when they try to insist they know. I just say it could really be anything until I see it. lol!

this lady said she was sure it was a rattler since it struck at her....Duh!!

I had a case recently where a guy had a german shepherd attacking him. he was bitten a couple times. the shepherd was runinng loose with a boxer that lived at the same house. this guy grabbed the boxer by the choke dhain collar and was swinging the boxer and hitting the shepherd to protect himself!!!! the owner of the dog grumbled, but I advised her that while being attacked the victim has the right to protect himself....even if it includes using her other dog as a weapon!!!! :D

It should be a cheap DVD by now, never seen a DVD still have my trusty VHS copy.

Val looks so young, I sometimes wonder if that was not maybe his first movie.

I want that "sweepstakes machine" could win a fortune with that.

I'm sure you already have, but this is one of those movies that if you pay close attention to every word, there is a lot of humor buried in there that some people will miss.:D

my neighbor 2 weeks ago, came across a snake, she almost stepped on it. She said it didn't do anything to her, but she was still scared. Come to find out it was a ribbon. I never saw it, I was not feeling good, & was in bed that whole day!

She let the older boys next door let it loose back in their yard.

I have found 2 different kinds of snakes in my backyard, never once did I try to hurt it in anyway. I took pics, & left it alone.:)

Stephanie - Some people are like that. There are several people that will not even come in to our house!

Even have one neighbor bent on trying to stop us from keeping snakes, said they could escape and attack my kids:eek:

Stupid freaks don't even realize my kids help feed the snakes.

Heck, Samantha (age 12) is in the snake room right now with her mom feeding the ribbons.

Sadly many people are pre-programmed by parents to hate/fear snakes.
