Ok, so last night TJ needed some food so while I was at the pet store I went to see if they had an rosies/comets. Well, they had rosies...so I got 8/$1.00 and went home with them...of course TJ will eat them he's not picky, but hwo exactly do I get Herbs interested....he sems afraid of the fish splashing in the water dish...the very shallow water dish. I tried scenting the fish, but it didn't work...how do I catch his interest?

Thanks.
Kevin

You can give him a deeper dish and leave them in there with him. Good chance there would be a few missing in the morning :)

Kevin.... comets are goldfish, a definite no-no fish, they contain thiaminase:eek:

use rosies only if you have nothing else to feed, seeing as they contain it to a lesser extent as well.

What type of feeder fish should I use? Guppies?

My bad....didn't know goldfish were a no-no.

Rosies are not good to feed to often, but if you need to use them in a pinch, you can.

either guppies, or go to the grocery store and get some fresh Salmon, Trout or tilapia, cut it into fishy sized pieces and feed what you need to and store the rest in the freezer... convienient, safe, and much cheaper than live feeders!!!

you use pinkes and nightcrawlers too?

I see. He diet mostly has been nightcrawlers. I was going to try pinkies, but I'm not sure he is big enough...he has a very small head. And yeah as of this morning there are no missing rosies from the dish...=/

Hmmm... well... since he's eating nightcrawlers and you were thinking of switching to pinkies anyway... you can cut up a pinky and mix it in with cut up pieces of worm and see if he'll eat both the worm and pinky pieces. If that works you can gradually move up to larger pinky pieces. He may be able to handle a pinky cut lengthwise from nose to tail. Thankfully you have TJ to eat the leftover rosies :)

Yeah, he don't complain about what he's eating.....I'll try that though.
