Hi everyone!
Just got to thinking; there aren't enough pictures of garter copulating so that newbies know what their snakes are doing or so that new breeders can tell what's going on. So I'm offering a reward for whoever can get a series of pictures in any one of these categories:
1. Sexing
2. Courtship (Such as males crawling/intertwined with female, the chase, etc.)
3. Intercourse
4. Aftermath (Such as the sperm plug, gravid females, etc.)

The prize, a baby butler's garter snake, will be awarded to the overall winner. You can enter as many times into as many categories you want. Pictures must be clear, at least 320 x 280 in size, and posted in this thread.
All species in the genus Thamnophis are applicable.

Good luck!

I don't have any pictures. Period.

What I would give my eye teeth to see - and hope to actually see the real thing next spring - is Garter Exodus in the spring after brumation. When they're just a big ball or all entwined together. That must be just awesome.

Any pictures, videos of that that anyone knows of?

I saw a genetics special on PBS one night, there was a segment about red sided garter breeding balls.:D

The whole Garter segment was only about 10 minutes of the program.:(
