We have a Cocapoo.

They also breed a dog called something like a shitzpoo or close to it.

I did not want a dog at all, but Dorothy insisted, and I gave in.

Had him a year, and well lets just say I don't exactly feel the same way about it I did last year.:D

This dog I never wanted "adopted" me, the ONLY place on the planet that dog ain't allowed to be is in the reptile room.

He gets his own Mcnuggets at the drive thru window.

speaking of mixed dog breeds....I stopped a lady in a park with a dog off leash, warned her, and talked to her for a few....she told me she had a "purebred labradoodle"!!!!!!!!!!:cool::D and she paid a lot to have this dog shipped in from Australia, probably a couple thousand!!! I was able to talk to her with a straight face....but sure busted out i laughs when I got back in my truck and left!!!!! :D

I can't stand the whole "designer breed" We see designer breeds ALL the time at the shelter!! Most of the dogs we get are "designer breeds" COME ON PEOPLE! They are MUTTS!
I love a good mutt don't get me wrong... But to purposefully breed them, sell them for sometimes MORE then a show quality purebred to a crowd that is most likely to dump them later?? No, nonononono!!

Nice pups Don! More of a Sighthound, German Shepherd, Siberian Husky girl myself though. ;)

Omg, remember the "puggle" craze of a couple of years ago? Man, we got those dogs in the rescue like crazy... because crossing a beagle and a pug is never a good idea!!! lol People were paying upwards of $1,000 for them... and now you can't give the things away. I had a momma and litter come in, and just for sh*** and giggles, I advertised the pups with a $500 "adoption fee"-- spayed and neutered them all first, at 12 weeks old, then ran the ad-- and honest as the day is long, I adopted them all out and had $2,000 to put back into the rescue. It was insane. And I had so many people responding to the ad it blew my mind.

Anyway, sorry for the rant-- Don, your babies are gorgeous and so is momma!!! Please keep us updated as they grow!!!

In my opinion I like mutts over pure breeds any day... Mutts live longer the pure breeds do.. That's just what I think.. The only pure breed dog I've had and cost me $2100.00 for him was our Blue Merle Pom Dakota.. I got pics of him here some where.. :D:D

I've always kept several dogs until I moved here to Michigan and started living in an apartment. Maybe now I can have a dog again. Trouble is I prefer large dogs. I've always had a doberman and kept Great Danes for years. I want a doberman again. Had a mini pom for over 14 years.

All pups are adorable and have that warm puppy/sour milk smell that always takes me back to being a kid, playing in the hay with this summer's batch of puppies. And lucky you, you have several to play with!

I got a call yesterday from someone who's neighbor moved away and abandoned their dachsund and her 9 puppies-- so they are coming here tomorrow. I don't know I've ever heard of a dachsund having that many pups!! Anyway, I bet they are cute little buggers!! I haven't had a litter here in a while so it should be fun.

People are just infuriating... apparently this dog has always been kept outdoors in a pen. Who would do that to a dachsund? Idiots!!!

Anyway, I'll post puppy pics tomorrow if anyone wants to see!!

this world is full of idiots.....i deal with that kind of stuff all the time...had a girl move out, opened the door, let her dog out and left. I took the call, impounded the dog (nasty chow) and took him to the shelter. this young girl didn't put much thought into her actions.....I had been out about 3 months before, impounded the dog for a shelter quarantine, and cited her for the dog running loose, attacking a passerby, no license and no rabies shots. Duh!!! when she didn't show up to pick up her dog, he was euthanized (sad, but was an aggressive dog with a history of biting, we won't adopt them out, liability for the county) i filed paperwork with the city prosecutor and they issued a warrant for her arrest!!!!! it will catch up to her and she will get her butt kicked by a judge!!!!!

One of the finest cats I ever had came to be this same exact way.

His name was Oscar (Already had a Felix, so Oscar made sense) The family moved away, let him out and drove off.

By the time I got him he was so bad off it cost $400 at the vet to fix him up. Worth every penny to me.

He had broken teeth, parasites (name a feline parasite, he had it) and was emaciated when he showed up in my barn!

Sadly the previous owners will never answer for their crimes.

that is unfortunate and happens here a lot....when we don't know who people are that move out...kinda hard to charge them with abandonment...:(

Don, I'm hijacking your thread-- hope ya don't mind! But here are the pics of the "dachsund" momma and pups-- LOL-- yeah, well, they aren't exactly dachsi's but I do think she is possibly a beagle/dachsi cross. Very sweet girl and she's such a good momma.

Here she is with some of her brood:

Yeah, that's how it all starts, with oohs and ahs, but later there's barking and biting! He's a ticking timebomb of death, Daisy. You give him all the love in the world and spend years of your life doting on his little furry head, and then one day you get back from aerobics and there he is, panting over the half eaten remains of some hapless handyman you left fixing the tumble dryer.

little late here . . .
congrats, Don
they're such cute pups
and I think that with this particular breed, there'll be quite a bit more left over from the mailman
myself, I'm more into big, chunky, short-haired dogs, the only exception being wire haired dachshunds
but that's where Jeff draws the line - no dogs
I don't get it
he was born in the year of the dog - shouldn't he feel some kind of kinship?
but then I can't say that I've ever felt drawn to having a monkey

Lori
I also think your dachshund looks a bit cocker spanielish
it's that forehead and the eyes . . .
I guess, beagles have it too

I can't figure out why anyone would want to mess up a perfectly good black lab but I saw a lady walking a pair of what looked to be lab/basset hound or lab/dachsund mix. It had the full head and body of the lab with short, stubby, little legs. I literally laughed out loud but my sister in law who works as a receptionist at a vet clinic says she had heard about them and supposedly she paid $5,000.00 each for them.
