new snakes :D

ok so i was out herping and i lifted up a piece of wood and i came across these 2 darling babies male and female here are some pics

The Male

i set them up in my 10 gal tank with that hide i made a while back for the baby snakes that preggers had (:() and one of those fake ferns in the middle an ivy branch wrapped in fake ivy and suction cupped to the side of the tank so it is upright and a small plant pot with a notch cut in it for another hide and an ashtray water dish

originally i wasn't going to keep the female but looking at her in the pic i am seeing a bunch of orange/red on her sides so maybe she will end up being one of those high red females i will see after a couple sheds if i will keep her or not the male i have named turk after my GF's father who passed away last month and i haven't thought of a name for the girl so if anyone wants to throw out some names that would be helpful

oh another thing i guess it wasn't coinsidence that i had dug up some small earthworms today and ended up finding them

ya i had to dump the 3 frogs i caught so i could put these 2 in the pillowcase(didn't want to take the chance of the frogs eating them)

Very pretty!! I went out to find toads today and it was raining and cloudy and in the middle of the path was a big ole TX Rat Female. Grabbed her and WOW the MOST RED I have seen on a TX Rat yet! Just what I was looking for!! But I wasn't even looking for her! It always works like way right. lol!!!

Cute babies!! The little girl looks very much like many of the babies Chili had. She may just have that high red you're looking for!

ok so i put some worms in an ashtray in the tank to see if they would eat (didn't really expect the male to eat since he is still blue) anyways about halfan hour later i notice 2 worms are missing so im think crap did they get out of the ashtray and i look over at the corner and see the female eating a worm so she must have eaten the other 1 that was missing turk(the makle) has shown a litle interest in them but every time i look over he darts away

ok well i just thought i would update everyone on the babie so yesterday squirt ate the 2 small worms and turk's eyes are almost clear so he should shed by saturday and i both of them are no longer hiding as much they both come out a lot to look around and squirt seems to like sitting in the water so here are more pics :D

Aw, great pictures Kev! Glad Squirt and Turk are settling in and doing so well for you! This baby raising stuff is fun, but worrisome :) Love the names. So far mine are just "the babies" :)

just a baby update they are both eating every other day on worm scented salmon with a little calcium supplement once a week i still have to pick up some multi vitamin for them since i cant feed them frogs yet like my other 2 snakes and hopefully next week they will both be eating the salmon unscented

one more the the male has grown 1/2" but the female has yet to show any growth

Awww..they are so cute. Herbs is getting to be a fatty, I love him so much.....wanna know something that ticks me off though..I came home form costa rica nad where I usually find snakes I found half of one and then another dead one at a different spot..they had blue sides...not sure what species that is...=/

i put 2 water dishes because at first they werent coming out as much so i wanted them to have water close by to their hiding spots so they wouldn't have to really reveal themselves too much i now have a big water dish for a swimming pool and the black ashtray i use for their food

another update squirt is starting to show some blue in her eyes so she should shed sometime this week im guessing by wednesday

actually george shed last week and she had the shortest blue phase i have seen only lasted a day and a half then another day and a half later she shed

I think Peepers shed. Never saw his eyes, but I never SEE HIM! Enkneeweigh, SOMEONE shed and I think it was Peepers as it was a LLLLOOONNNNNNGGGG shed.
