I was there and I didn't see you
friends let us use their car and it was sort of a last minute thing
wow guys - I have to tell you . . .
I'd never been to this show, and we got there pretty late (3pm-ish), so some of the vendors had already packed up, but we got to see a lot and I brought pics
because we were late, I didn't take notes, so our resident experts will have to fill us in with some of the species specifics
I need to add here, that I really went to just look and really didn't think I was going to fall in love or anything like that
and no - I didn't come home with a hot snake, but I now totally understand how that can happen, and I really want to learn how to handle them safely some day
the lighting was atrocious of course . . .

Oh no, Rhea, I´m still far away from that.
Is it only my impression?
The boxes are looking quiet small.
But at least nice shots of interesting creatures.

Nice snakes, Rhea! In order, I believe them to be;
Bitis gabonica
Trimeresurus albolabris
Bothriopsis (or is it Bothriechis now) bilineatus
Atheris squamiger
Naja something

what amazed me, was how exquisitely beautiful some of them are
most of them are just babies - hence the small boxes
thanks, James

Instead of re writing, I am going to copy and paste the PM I just sent Amanda, lol!!!
They turned out to be very pretty rusty checkered easterns. and the are 2.1, not 1.2 but that works in my favor seeing as I need males! I still took them anyways, he really, honestly had no idea that these were not checkered garter snakes, and they are healthy and beautiful!!!
It was a good show, and I'll be doing a post later tonight with all the stuff I managed to bring home!!
For one thing... I bought ONE adult female FL blue garter for $20 (finally a mate for my male) and an hour after I got home... I had over 20 leetle florida blues zipping around :D
I also had a litter of some REALLY weird sirtalis born yesterday... they have like no color!!! they are grayish blue!!! theyre amazing and I can't wait to show you guys pics tonight...
So overall, I am not that bummed out about the checkered's. The FL blues are a blessing, simply because I lost my young female a few days ago for seemingly no reason. Now, I have my PICK!!!:p:rolleyes:
I also helped RWG sex his albino checkereds (hold them up to the light and 4 of them had dark things in there and 2 did not) and in return I got 3 baby ribbons for $20. They are CUTE, and FEISTY, (ferocious actually) and my first ribbons!
Other than that, I brought home a female blonde pastel BP, and something highly unexpected.... an ADULT female grayband!!! you NEVER see those!!! It was also a blessing, seeing a week or two into gravidity, my previous female that I raised from a hatchling "male" passed away, in a similar stunning fashion to Wayne's little Magma... she was curled up sleeping, but dead. I was heartbroken and close to selling the male thinking I would never find another beautiful female like her.
I also had a litter of some really weird sirtalis born yesterday. I think they are axanthic???? they are grayish blue... they have no color!!! pictures of EVERYTHING later!!!
a new thread with all the new guys later on!!

Justin

The animals all look to be in good condition. Quite supprisingly since they will probably all be wildcaught!

you're totally right
I heard one of the sellers mention that they're all wild caught with the tone of pride in his voice, but since he was talking to someone else, I decided to leave it alone
and yes - all the ones I saw appeared to be in good shape
and no, Justin, I didn't really look at prices at all

yeah - I noticed the raw spot, but because the lighting was poor, my eyesight isn't great, and I have no idea whether they're not supposed to look like that, I didn't realize that that's what it was until I looked at the photo when I got home - poor snake, eh?
that's why I was so very happy that my old vet was there to check over the beardie - I can't really totally trust that I'm seeing everything right
the beardie, btw is great - a fantastic find
she's not anywhere near as picky as Henner, chomped down some garden weeds and some calcium dusted baby hissers with gusto
we still don't have a name for her
