Looking forward to seeing some pics of your flames when you receive them. I think Scott sold out of his flames before I even have a chance to blink. Anyway, I also have a couple of garters on order from Scott. Picking up a male similis to pair with my female, and also a female parietalis. Steve:)

I saw a flame at Martins cellar,
dark red as an old fashioned clinker
so sad that he´s no member to show
a pic of those
but there are some interesting shots on his HP

Martin has some very interesting Garter species.... I wonder if he is breeding his ordinoides?

I had only a short glance on them, and know nothing about their bereeding status.
You´ll have to email him to ask if he is expeting offspring of those.

Baby peepers. I ran out of baby toads.

We own some wetlands, So in the spring I gather some of the polliwogs and let them culture in a tank, so they remain parasite free.

These work excellent to start a feeding response in snakes that others cannot get to feed.

Then I scent the fish with frog, to ween them off the frog diet.

Thanks for noticing;)

Peepers are a small frog, named so due to the "peep peep" noise they make during mating season.

anji1971
07-25-2008, 08:05 PM
No, she's not really. She's just a high red Eastern. Flames have red on the scales, not just between them, and usually on their face too. But, if I ever have the space and time to try my hand at breeding, she'd be the one I'd find a flame to mate with. She's a great prospect for starting a "flame dynasty" in my home!

crzy_kevo
07-25-2008, 08:07 PM
aww cmon post a pic shes close enough to a flame i saw her myself after all
she has that red stripe all the way to the tail

anji1971
07-25-2008, 08:18 PM
She does, and I've posted quite a few pictures of her before.
But she's not a flame. We don't have flames here in Ontario.
She's still my beauty queen though. I love her colouring!

aSnakeLovinBabe
07-25-2008, 08:19 PM
flames have a bright red/orange stripe down both sides from the neck alll the way to the tail tip. Many of them, but not all, also have orange or red on their stomachs, as well as orange or red cheeks. Most have a white stripe, the flame I recently found has barely any stripe on its back and no orange on the face. nonetheless, a beautiful snake and a lucky find! Many eastern garters have orange in between their scales that often sticks out a little, and some pretty orange blushing, technically, not flames, but still gorgeous in their own rites. Like Chili!!!!

anji1971
07-25-2008, 08:23 PM
Don't worry, Kevin. If you ever see a flame in real life, you will immediately spot the difference! But I'm glad you're so taken by Chili. She is a special gal!

A lot of garters have a progress of their pattern during the first month of live and will keep it for a long time or even the whole live.
Other snakes are often most beautyful in the second of birth and loose a little bit brilliance with each shed.

My newer female eastern Bluela, is a lovely off-shade of blue... and two of her lil ones have the same blue tinge. its really strange, actually. And attractive. I think once she fattens up and sheds... she will be quite photoworthy!

Her babies, it is impossible to photograph their color. It's really weird!
