Well,
It looks like I'll be filling up the last of my empty tanks.
Kevin found me a snake that is similar in colouring to his George, and my husband actually agreed to let me keep it!
Amazing, he only let out a few sighs and rolled his eyes a couple times.........
"But this is the last one. Really. We're not going to get any more, right??":D:rolleyes:
I think I'm wearing him down into complete submission. YES!!!

Anyway, I hope to have her by today, and I'll have to let Kevin put some pictures of her up in this thread in the meantime. (someone stupidly deleted the wrong PM--the one with the image tags......:o)
I'll put up more pics when she gets here!

Except at feeding time:eek:

You know what? You've hit the nail right on the head, Wayne!
It's not the snakes he gets stressed about, but how much money it's going to cost him to care for them all.
My husband is very no-nonsense and practical about money. Me.........ummm, not so much!:o
But it's so much fun to watch his blood pressure skyrocket by mentioning my longterm snake collection plans!!:D

Teehee. ;)
Just show him how much money you would save by switching to RodentPro! ONLY if you order in quanity... lol!!

lol anji :D whats one more snake an extra dollar or two a month for feeding right :D

anji1971
07-24-2008, 08:43 AM
The funny thing is, I feed nightcrawlers and rainbow trout exclusively. It really doesn't cost much of anything!!
He just worries about any extra spending, and that's mainly because his job is in an industry that is extremely shaky here. He always panics first, and once he realises it's not so bad, then he's fine.

That can happen quite often, scales sub-dividing, I have a couple with that.
Do you have a scanner? That's a great way of getting a good belly pic.

Alright, I'm back. And I have pictures!
This snake has the coolest colouring. She's got olive, yellow and orange tones at the head, going partway down her body. Then, the rest of her is all browns and cream colours.
She's a half 'n' half!!:D
But she's the calmest, most laid-back snake I've ever had. She makes Deejay seem spazzy!

This is her new home. I gave her a birdhouse hide, but at the moment she prefers to bury in the substrate to have "alone time"!

Anji, we've the same swimming pool! God bless Wal-Mart! :D

Okay. I hate you and Kevie. So there.

anji1971
07-24-2008, 07:02 PM
Don't hate us, Gertie!
We're the only two members here who can exchange snakes. It's just l'il ol' Kevin and Anji all alone in Ontario. You should feel sorry for us that we can't take advantage of all the fabulous snakies being shipped all over the USA!

Garter_Gertie
07-24-2008, 07:03 PM
I gasped when the pic of her highlite pic came up.

Now ittiz fur real. I hate you and Kevie. :p

YOU GO, GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait until like 5, 10 years from now when I can say, "Yeah. That Anji and Kevie, the ones that made that strain? Friends o'mine since way back. Yeah, yeah. I helped get them started." :D:D:D

I was just about to say something to that effect!
All of a sudden, quiet little Gunflint Lake is swarmed by customs officers, just waiting to pounce on the suspected illegal snake traders that are rumoured to be on their way.......

Hay. I'd FAR RATHER get thrown in the hoosgow for babies vs. MaryJane! At least I'd maybe have a leg to stand on (love).

And... You know us Americans... Ish. This is actually embarassing... It would be a good story for the Twin Cities' news stations... The limits a lover has to go. And like who's to say your snakes haven't crossed the border enkneeweigh? And OURS to YOU?

Like man, we've MILES o'border that's just DIRT! CRY ME A RIVER!!!!

THREE Canadians on here??? My god they're taking over.... eh?:D

anji1971
07-24-2008, 07:21 PM
She doesn't have a name yet. I can't figure out which end to name her after!!:D Something green/yellow related for the head? Or something brown/taupe related for the tail end?
It's a real dilemma, I tell ya.
Overall, she has more light brown than any other colour, which incidentally reminds me of Irish Whiskey, or an Iced Cappuccino. I'm considering Bailey, or Moka. (Can you tell how my brain thinks? Food or booze.......hmmmm.):D

I tried her on tilapia last night. She ate quite a pile of the stuff, so it doesn't look like we're going to have any feeding issues.
The babies, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with tilapia. At least I still have some rainbow trout left for them.

And I still haven't found a good name for the new girl. My daughter is very adamant about finding one we both agree upon, and that has not been easy!

good news on the tilapia hopefully i can get my snakes to take the pollock i got for free i already checked it and it is also thiaminase free so hoepfully they will take that stuff too it will save me another 2 months of buying snake food
