without my permission, but we're resolving that problem right now...

Two other signs like this can be found at Ano Nuevo State park in CA. The rangers aren't quite sure who stole my image from the California Herps website:

Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia - San Francisco Gartersnake (http://www.californiaherps.com/snakes/pages/t.s.tetrataenia.html)

Interesting.

If it the photo wasn't copyrighted when you posted it ((c) Brian Hubbs 2005) you're probably going to be out of luck. I see no copyright.

For all the state knew, you copied it from somewhere else. I'd think it's going be laborious on your part proving it's "yours."

The photo on the website is copyrighted. Click on the link, then click on the photo at that site and you'll see. The park does not dispute that the photo is mine. They are taking steps to give me credit and hopefully send me a sign.

There, I changed the photo to the copyrighted image.

It clearly is for a good cause, I would not do anything to make them take the sign down. Sit back and be proud :D

I'd ask them what, if any, other projects were coming up - more snakes?, turtles?, lizards?, whatevers? And see if they would retain my services... Thass what I'd do! :D

On one hand I would be honored if they'd take a picture of me to do that.

On the other hand, they should've asked permission.

This seems a 'noble cause', but in many other cases it's really not that noble. And in then, I would really not like that they just took a picture mine...

edit: in any case, you may never take a picture of somebody else from the internet. It's always copyrighted, even if you don't mention it explicitely. They teached this in my law classes :)

Hmmm... the DNR folks should pay you for that, but probably do not have the money allocated in the budget... so you could arrange for them to give you a special permission to OWN that species and propagate it for release!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL!

I spoke to one of the rangers yesterday. My sign is in the mail, and they are going to put a copyright sticker on each sign for me. Hallelujah.:)

I´m sure it would be easy to sell a whole box of them to all the ´tetrataenia breeders in Europe, even because its original from their habitats.
