oh and i think the smaller one is ready to pop really soon because when i found them there was a fresh skin that was still damp maybe a foot from where i found them and it looked about the size of the smaller one

oh hmm maybe i should put them in the tank with the others then

oh except that when i brought them to the house the big one was protruding its rear section it looked was getting ready but maybe it was just from the stress

well i put them both in the tank with the others and the big one took a huge drink so hopefully she settles in fast

so is there any extra care that babies need other than typical garter care

they have to be fed more often.. every 2-3 days.... and WHATEVER you do, DO not put them in the sun..... it only takes a few minuites..... and they..... are all.... gone:(

Do you have another tank, Kevin?
You might want to keep the expectant moms separately until they have their babies. You don't want George and Checkers to think the neonates are lunch!!;)

Kevin, here is where I am going to "get it"

You found George around June 12, one month ago........

What are you doing???????:(

If nothing else, respect me for having the guts to be forthright with you.

Not trying to be harsh, but taking care of the babies of two large gravid females, plus the females themselves, will probably be pretty overwhelming for a beginner. I'll have to take Wayne's side on this one.

I'm inclined to agree, you're definitely taking water over your head here.

i have decided that i will release the huge female the smaller one isn't nearly as gravid as she is so it should be alot less hassle
and i like the colors on the smaller one better too

and on another note i am picking up another 10 gal tank to put the gravid girl in until she gives birth then i will releze her and keep the babies in there until i have decided they are well enough to release

My respect just doubled Kevin:D

Now here is some helpful advice, birthing live snakes is incredible, you will be fascinated to no end.

If this all goes well for you, and it should, then the next best logical move should be to pair up George with a male, and feel the excitement of really captive breeding a batch of babies.

Best wishes:D

yes that is the plan also because the female i am keping has that elusive red side that george also has so hopefully the babies will have it and i can get a really good male with her possibly increasing this trait
