I'll not reply. I've found ZIP and am now of the opinion I'd not evem find, as large as ittiz, my caboose with both hands.

walk slow, keep your eyes trained just in front of you, and down.

Scan all around you for movement, flip over large flat items.

Look long, look hard. Sometimes you will spend all day and see nothing.

Sometimes you will be out 10 minutes and see 5

Remember that these creatures do not want you to see them. Think like they do....:D

I'd check areas where there's a decent amphibians population. Ribbon snakes seem to prefer more established ecosystems than garters.

thanks :D I have a little pond right by my house that couldn't be more than 4 feet deep and it is FULL of frogs. nothing flat around there to flip though. I wonder if you could have luck just taking a lawn chair down there in early morning or late afternoon and just wait for them to come to the pond kinda like deer hunting? instead of walking around scaring everything off? just a thought

Look in trees too. Ribbons seem to like high places.

you're right DuH!! stupid me. If I put some things around like plywood and whatnot it would take a while for snakes to be under there right?
