Went "hunting" today

Today was quiet, so I decided to go for a walk, a long slow walk, eyes trained at 7:00 sweeping left and right kind of walk.

So I grabbed up my trusty pillow case and started walking. Scanning every inch as I walked slowly deeper into the wet wooded area.

Walked all the way to the end of the lot, NOTHING!!:mad:

So I turned around, and repeated the process in reverse, when suddenly there was motion on the ground, right in front of me is this ORANGE eastern garter crossing merrily on his way. Note that even the dorsal stripe is rusty orange color.

With only a moment of opportunity at hand, I quickly dove head first in the general direction of this handsome fellow, at first I pinned down his tail, then gently worked him free of the tall grass he almost made it into.

The picture does no justice, he is close to shed, and was wallowing in mud when I caught him.

I'll try to get some better pictures after he cleans up.

beautiful snake but its really not a flame im sorry,flame are red or orange not rusty.that why they calley flame,but rusty garter as i called is very pretty too.

Ok, I am really jealous... I need to move to another state, Washington sucks!!! I can't go out to the wild and bring home any beauties like you guys do or I will get in trouble. :mad: I would have so many snakes... maybe it is good that I can't?

Andrea - I was just flaunting Magma to Charles.

Magma was an expensive little bugger, if ONLY they crawled freely in my yard:D

But I did secure another captive bred extreme (looks like magmas twin)

2 bright red boys, They will be real busy when they grow up:D

I know I did get lucky with our new family member, he is the greatest snake ever! Thank God my mom rescued him. :) I just want him to have a partner, so I will have to pay a "boat-load" for a mate that I could find in my mom's yard... Maybe another one will "run" out in the road...
