Has anyone got any experience with baby boa's born prematurely with yoke still attacked?
I have tried to upload photo's but can't get it to work. There were 18 in total born last nite. 8 where alive last nite and 7 this morning the 7 seem to be doing well so far. Been trying to keep the moist and warm.
Any advice?

hmmm.... i've sure never herd of it.... that's really strange!!!
I've seen it with lizards. Keep them on damp paper towels until the yoke is absorbed so that it doesn't stick to something and get torn off. That could kill them if they are like lizards. Spray the paper towels frequently to keep them moist. It shouldn't take more than a couple of days. Good luck!

Wow, they don't look quite the way I was expecting! That's quite a lump they are still attached to. Sadly I have absolutely no useful advice but just bucket loads of best wishes that they pull through.

I don't know much (anything) about premature snakes, but that definitely doesn't look good. Hope at least some of them make it.

Hope the little ones pull through for you Inge.... amazing, yet gut wrenching, pictures. Wish there was something that could be done to help the little ones. Have you gotten any usefull advise from anywhere else?

Sorry Inge... Here's a link that may help Chloe a bit Do premature babies ever survive? [Archive] - The Boa Network Forum Boards (http://www.boaconstrictor.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-5001.html) Not a lot of info there, but a little. Jeff Ronne was listed as a source of info and after doing a bit of reading he does sound like the man to talk to. It couldn't hurt to ask him for advise. Here's his web address which also lists contact information at the bottom The Boaphile ! (http://www.theboaphile.com/)

Inge & Chloe, I hope you don't mind, but I went ahead and emailed Mr. Ronne. I figured I was on his page already and had the email link right there in front of me. I've asked him to take a look at this post if he has time and to offer any advise he may have. Still pulling for these little ones...

Thank you for all your kind words and help. 7 are still alive not moving that much but definately breathing. I have bred with the mother before 3 times and everything was fine. Usually she stops eating half way through the pregnancy but she didn't this time so i assumed she still had a while to go. she ate a rat on monday and i think that must have caused the premature birth.

imve had no experience with premature reptiles at all im afraid. the best i can say is i did hear your not to feed them untill the yolk has gone.
this is a hard call to make so maybe a trip to the vets is needed and get a professionals opinion.

Jeff Ronne returned my email saying all he knows is to keep them warm and damp and that he can't remember the last time he had a baby like this end up making it :(
Wish it was better news Chloe. We're all still pulling for you and the babies...

You should document your findings and progress and enter it to the herptile as an article for IHS??

Chloe, how are the babies doing?
I don't subscribe to the "no news is good news" theory... I'm way too impatient... but in this case I'm really hoping it's true...
