View Full Version : How do you rig up lighting?

I just moved my boy to a new tank (a friend of mine had an old aquarium going), and I'm trying to work out how to light it. I just used a heat mat in the old enclosure, but as this one is bigger I'd like a heat lamp as well - especially since when I'm at home rather than university I have the coldest room in the house.

The lid has a very convenient hole for a lightbulb, but I can't (being very untechnical) work out how you actually rig up a bulb and make sure the snake doesn't escape...

Any help would be gratefully recieved!

light fittings usually unscrew so that a bit goes either side of the lid and screws back on, other than that, harrass someone with super skills!;)

Since I am not at all familiar with what products are available, my only input would be if the hole is large enough, install a screen over it, and set a reflector light on top of the screen.

For a Garter a small 50-60 watt track light replacement bulb is well suited, and inexpensive.

Good luck:)
