Well, my fave, the oldest and the one that stole my heart and started this whole mess would not be a Garter, But rather Xena the Dekay Brown snake. ( I read once they are like cousins to the garter snake, not sure though)

http://www.reformedsniper.net/mrblue/xener.jpg

Xena is one unique critter, she will not ever be out of captivity, I set her down out in the yard once, she wrapped the end of her tail around my finger so tight it almost hurt, She has only escaped twice, and came straight to me both times. She is a honey, defies all logic.. When she passes on it will hit this whole family hard.

If I am reading this snake correctly, she craves handling.. I know it sounds strange, but she will sit in my left hand and eat from my right hand. The only other snake I have that will do that is Sky my Puget, and that's only because he is a piggie that never turns down food. (maybe she is too, however you slice it, feeding out of your hand is cool)

My first snake, a male parietalis. Died almost a year ago. I'd trade a tetra and a vagrans for another one like him.

Stefan, I'd give you one if you were not so far away.

Scooty will always be my favorite... He died almost a year and a half ago and I consider him my first snake.

However, nowadays it's a close competition between James, my male butler's, and Fatty, the eastern I raised from a squiggle.

Since my oldest is featured with pictures in the story "She's so vain", I will post a picture that to me is touching because it illustrates being honored by the trust of such a tiny fragile creature resting his head on my finger. Winning the trust of creatures of a species so different from our own, and especially one so tiny, is at the same time an honor and a humbling experience.

Thread revival.. I like this one

My Oldest = Spot, even older than my corn snakes, not shy at all, when the light goes out he is in a hide and sleeps, when the light turns on he is out and always wants to be held. At 4 years old he is my senior

Now for my most favorite, Serpent and definately my most shy snake. Her mama was Wild but Serpent is Captive Born, same with her brother Slider. They were both savagely attacked by my cat tofu and left for dead. Serpent was unresponsive and lost alot of blood, Slider had a couple deep puncture wounds along his body and an inch of tail lost which was alot when the snakes were about 8 inches long at the time. Both made a spactacular recovery. But Tofu is no longer with me, found him a home.

Favorite? Jeez.. That's hard to say. I mean, my adult,(red sided) Spooner, means a lot to me, he's my first snake, he's big and has a cool personality and he will always be my favorite.

But... so will my baby anery red sided, Smoke. Laid back, calm, sweet snake, that I've raised almost from birth. Got him eating myself, and watched him grow as much as he has...

Then, personality wise, my favorite is my baby concinnus, Rooster. Is so calm and comfortable around me he doesn't use hides. Will come to me. So calm I have dragged around his tail and he ignores me. Big ol' boy, 12 inches and only a few months old.... Just a really sweet snake. He is active, moving around all day, seemingly wanted to be taken out, from the minute he wakes up. Burns off calories doing that, and is always tired because of it. Has fallen asleep while climbing up the glass.:D

I honestly can't pick a favorite...

Seems like red-sided are taking the #1 spots for favorite snake. I can completely agree with that, all of my red-sided snakes are all outgoing and less shy than the other species I have
